The Englishman's Retreat, Udon Thani

I stayed there with my boyfriend because of the fantastic reviews on trip advisor.What a misleading website.They have a fridge in the room but full of their own beers. When i asked him to empty it so i could use it he stood with his face close to mine and said no very nastily and scared me.W e only stayed 2 nights as the people who live there are so rude same as the owner have pattaya bar girls as wives and g/f`s.It is a very long way from the city,no tuk tuk and songtawe perhaps every 1-2 hours. I was not allowed to bring my thai food inside and my b/f was not allowed to bring beer in .We left after 2 nights instead of staying 2 weeks as we were both scared of the owner and his long term guests. DO NOT BELIEVE TRIP ADVISOR . All written by his friends and guests. We went just up the road to bb villa .Really nice place and friendly people.We heard a lot of bad stories since about fighting and problems at englishmans retreat. do not go there or believe his reviews far better friendly places in udon thani

I found that the owner (Glen) and his wife to be very graceful and accomodating. I was there for 10 days, the room was cleaned daily and was always immaculate. The pool was a little cool due to being in the shade, but still a pleasure to use. In my opinion, it is near the top compared to other B&B that is in Udon. Has a medium amount of gym equip for Guests to use. Only a few blocks from a golf course.
