Will never use Monster Group again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/09
I booked a two room suite back in May of 2009 for my family vacation of the year. There were six of us going and my husband and I wanted everyone to be comfortable. I was told that I would be booked a two room suite with a King size bed in one room and the second room would have two beds plus a queen size pull out sofa. The King size bed was crucial for my husband and I because that is what we have at home and wanted the comfort of being at home and be able to enjoy our one and only vacation of the year. When we showed up, we were given a one room suite with two double beds and a pull out sofa that was only a double. We went back down to the front desk and told them we were supposed to have a two room suite with a king bed. The second room they said was with the first room was a connecting room with two more double beds. When we complained, the front desk said that the Monster Group was not allotted King size bed suites. So we proceeded to go the Monster Group building to complain to them about the situation. When we showed up, explained to them what we were promised over the phone when making the reservations with monster resort group in May and what we got needed to be took care of. They failed to deliver. We were told that they called the resort and they were told no more King size suites available. We were also told that with the size of our group that the room we received would work out better for us anyway. THAT WAS NOT THE POINT! It was not what we asked for and told what we would recieve in May. We were also told that the room prices for the King suite and the two rooms with the two double beds were the same price so everything was good there. I think they thought we were stupid, because you and I both know that a King suite and what we got would most definitely be different prices.
We were also never told that we would have to view another resort for a time share until after they booked our vacation. Then we were told there were no cancellations or refunds once booked, and if you did not show up for the tour that you would be charged an extra 150.00 or full price for the room. Which ever price was highter. Now I will claim ignorance on my part when he was asking me questions about my income and my husbands. I should have known something was up. This was only my second vacation to the beach. I thought it was weird but thought was something new they were doing. Yes I was dumb in that aspect. You live and you learn. I sure learned a very valuable lesson.
As far as the Resort we stayed in went, It was clean, the room and decor was nice, and here comes the but, the beds were hard as rock, one of the beds boxspring looked like they pulled it out of the trash dumpster. It was totally falling apart. You could see all the metal bed springs from the side. It was unacceptable for a resort of this magnitude. There were only 3 elevators which at any given moment throughtout the day either worked or did not work. there were many times only one worked and the lobby would be full of people trying to get on the elevator. 19 floors of people. Luckly we were only on the 6th floor, so we took the stairs a lot.
I will never use Monster Resort Group again. I will also be telling everyone I know to stay away from them.
If you are reading this and have not used them yet, don't. If you have a reservation with them, I hope they treat you better than they did us.
Good Luck to you!
P.S. At the time I booked the reservations in May. I could have booked the same rooms at Sand Castle South for $200.00 less, and I would not have had to take time out of my vacation to view a time share property that by the way took 3 hours and we had to drive at least 45 minutes to get there. Half a day wasted. This is one reason why we went with Monster Resort Group, because we could get the King Size Suite. That is what we based our decision on to go with Monster Group. What a Big, Big Mistake we made!
