Azumaya, Wakayama-Shi

Azumaya is an old wooden inn that offers its guests elegant Japanese-style rooms with private facilities. A kimono clad maid serves meals in your room. The indoor segregated baths are in prized old hinoki tubs. Hinoki is Japanese cypress and is considered the most exquisite wood for hot-spring tubs. Outside is a large, rock encircled, open-air pool. The water is classified as sulfur, and is famous for softening and detoxifying the skin. Bathing is also said to benefit those with circulatory problems. Drinking the water is said to be great for settling an upset stomach.
