We stayed several times in Wilderness Lodge. We always have had a great time,we really like siting by the fire pit and taking in the wasome views. We will be having our family get together at Wilderness later this year.I wish I could live there.
The staff at Bear Camp was great we had a problem ligting the gas fire place and they sent some one to take care of it for us.We will stay next year for sure.
The cabin we rented was advertised to have a hot tub and jacuzzi. When we arrived neither were working. I called in the next morning to report the problem. We came back to the cabin that eveing, still not working. I called in again and was told that their contract states they are not responsible for those items. They sent a repair man out but he could not get into the cabin because I had dogs. The dogs were locked up, I posted a sign on the front door and on the door of the room they were locked into. This went on the entire time we were in their cabin. They never once bothered to call me and tell me if it was or was not fixed, that the repair man had an issue with the dogs THAT WERE LOCKED UP! The last call I bothered to make to them I was told they were not sending the repair man out again because they had other cabins to attend to. So, in short, you may not get what they are advertising, they are very unresponsive once they have your money and they do not care about your satisfaction once they have your money. I will never rent from them again!
We rented "A Birds Eye View" and initially everything seemed fine. When we went to bed the first night we noticed the box springs under the king bed in the master bedroom to be broken, making it imposible to sleep on(you just keep rolling to the low side). We then had to look for somewhere else to sleep and discoverd the futon was also broken and unusable for sleep.
In the morning the ceiling in the kitchen began to drip right underneath the master bathroom shower. So we called Bear Camp to see if they could help. They said they would put us on the maintenance list. We were only staying two nights and wondered if they would do anything before we left. So we stopped by the office and found out that they already knew the bed was broken and were waiting for the owners to replace it. Their solution was to put the matress on the floor. As for the leaking shower they had no idea when it would be taken care of.
We felt that they should not have rented the cabin in the conditon it was in. They would not offer any alternatives and said they had a no refund policy. After pressing them they offered another cabin if they could find one they said they would call. We went in to Pigeon Forge to enjoy our day. In about an hour we got a call they had a cabin we could use with an upcharge and paying the cleaing fees for both cabins and if we wanted we had to stop what we were doing and go back to our cabin and move immediately they said we were holding up two cabins. This was our only full day in Pigeon Forge and we did not want to give it up to move to another cabin that might be in worse shape than the one we had and pay on top of that.
Bear Camp Realty was not helpful and sometimes rude when we were trying to work this out with them.
That being said the cabin was reasonably clean and the locaton was just alright.
We arrive at our destination looking forward to our time off together to relax & have fun with our family. To our dismay when we arrive at the cabin we are extremely disappointed as soon as we walk in the door. There is a nasty moldy musty odor as soon as you walk in the door. I later found where there was a leak problem in the roof over one of the bedroom closets when I saw black mold growing on the ceiling tile. The cabin was also infested with rodents of some kind due to all the droppings we found in all the drawers of the furniture & behind the kitchen appliances. We had already been told there would be NO REFUNDS of any kind before we even came, so we chose to come anyway thinking everything would be fine. Due to that policy, we made the decision to keep all of our belongings off the floor & out of the drawers & tough it out until we could leave only using the cabin for a place to lay down. There wasn't really any sleep involved because the mattresses were so old, worn out and were very uncomforable due to all the springs sticking in your back. The very next day we spent most of it driving around going to all the tourists attractions we could before having to go back to the cabin which we were not looking forward to going back to at all. We walked in the front door & laid our bags on top of the kitchen table while the kids went & changed clothes for the night. My husband yelled to all of us to get back & go outside on the front porch. He started looking frantically around the kitchen table pulling chairs away from the table & said he had just seen about an 18" long snake slither back underneath it! We were horrified that there was a snake in our cabin at night & we immediately called the management company & all they did was send 2 people out to kill it which turned out to be a black rat snake. We didn't waste any time going back into the cabin to start packing up all our belongings to leave, because Bear Camp Cabin Rentals would not make things right for us to be able to stay at another cabin without trying to charge us more money & again was told NO REFUNDS. We were so mad & upset because our kids were traumatized from the whole ordeal. We thankfully found a nearby hotel vacancy & was able to stay 1 night because we couldn't afford to keep paying for a place to sleep. We had already paid Bear Camp Cabin Rentals for a total of 4 nights & 5 days for lodging & didn't have any money to spare so we had to cut our vacation short by 2 days which was so devistating for all of us. We will never use Bear Camp Cabin Rentals again & highly recommend that no one else use them either. They are very unreasonable, all they want is your money & could care less about your living quarters while your on vacation!
We enjoyed our stay here very much. Spacious cabin in idyllic setting easily accommodated our family of four and our pet dog. The location was very private, quiet, and just minutes from downtown Pigeon Forge and hiking trails. The large deck was perfect for our family to relaxe and enjoy the mountains and beautiful trees surrounding the property. The master bedroom included a huge bathroom with a great shower--much needed and appreciated after long hikes. The Bear Camp staff was very helpful, We will recomend them to our family and friends.
I stayed in a Cabin with a group of 7 other people for a week in Feb. The cabin itself is beautiful, and really just perfect for a fun getaway with close friends or family.
The accommodations exceeded my expectations in comfort and cleanliness. I stayed in the bedroom on the lowest floor, and the bed was not only gigantic but just as comfortable as my pillowtop mattress at home!
The social areas (living room and kitchen/dining area) are all on the same floor which is great. You can have your space when you want to and hang out when you want to.
The big kitchen/dining space is wonderful for hanging out, drinking wine, and eating yummy comfort food after a long day of hiking. There is also a hottub to unwind in after a long day.
Pigeon Forge isn't exactly that big of a town, but the cabin is situated in a place that was really easy to get to and parking was great .
Bear Camp was very helpfull and did a great job of keeping up the property as well as giving us ideas on great places to go.
The next time I go, I will definitely try to stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone else visiting Pigeon Forge or the Great Smoky Mountains!
We are so happy we found this cabin! We’ve stayed in quite a few different places in the past as we frequent the smokies each year. This cabin is the best! The view is unbelievable. The mountain is right there. Décor is modern, yet very cozy. We were so comfortable that we did not want to leave the cabin. The living room and kitchen areas are perfect to entertain – open and of good size. The kitchen is outfitted with everything you would need to cook or bake. We cooked a gourmet dinner almost every night and even baked cookies.
The listing description was exact and the photos accurately reflect the rental’s appearance and amenities. The cabin was clean and well maintained. And there are so many things to do within a short driving distance from the cabin. In our opinion, it is in the perfect location. The grocery stores are right down the street. There are many restaurants nearby; some of our favorites are Old Mill or the alamo steak house. Also, if you like to ski, Gatlinburg is just a few miles away .
Bear Camp was more than helpful and super nice. They were always available to answer our questions via phone or email in a timely manner. We would definitely recommend Bear Camp to a friend or relative - we’ve already done so! We will be staying here again, without a doubt. love this cabin!
January 12 through January 21, 2012
Water coming through front high windows and down wall.
Water coming in under front door and wetting almost entire rug, running all the way to the stairs.
Water coming in on top of the door as well.
Front door warped and doesn’t seal well, cold air coming in.
Wasps in upstairs bedroom
No hot water in upstairs bathroom. We had to use bathrooms downstairs.
All three toilets had several episodes of not flushing and almost running over. Glad you had plungers.
Toaster does not work.
Wind was terrible and partially at fault for the rain, but also blew chairs over on porch several times.
Wind caused horrible noise on roof. Sounded like something loose or flapping on west side near chimney.
Bathrooms and kitchen cabinets misaligned and falling off.
No Wifi!!!! We had to go out and buy an ethernet cable (the wifi was the one reason we picked this cabin over others because of Wifi for my son to do homework while we were here for funeral).
GFI near sink in 2nd master bathroom loose and intermittent.
Not enough hangers.
Would have been nice to be able to open blinds on high windows for more light on cold dreary days.
Dead flys everywhere: bathtubs, sinks, window ledges.
Pool table in very bad shape.
Washing machine does not agitate, just spins!
Price was ok.
Views were great.
Lots of towels, washcloths!
Lots of games.
Lots of dishes and cups, spatulas, etc. Very easy to cook!
House was very drafty but warmed up quickly.
Lots of blankets, some not so nice but still warm. We were very grateful due to the cold!
Décor is beautiful. Cabin is beautiful. Horses, view, well landscaped. Grill was (dirty but) nice to have.
Telephone was handy.
Coffee maker was handy, looked new.
Fitted sheets very hard to keep on the bed but were good quality.
Someone came and put in a cable box, but didn’t fix wifi issue.
Probably wound not stay in this cabin again.
We arrived to a clean, fresh Cabin. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bedrooms are a nice size with King Beds. There is a Deck off the living room. This Cabin has two floors, with bedrooms on each. The cabin is in a quiet area, not built up with other cabins or attractions. The pool table is in a great game room with views. The mountains were just a short drive. Be sure to keep your door lock code before you go, so you don't get locked out. Great for walking, biking, hiking. Kids had great fun in the hot tub, which was located on the main deck.
We met several nice permanent residents who were helpful in finding places to go. Don't miss the zip lines. The food was great and quite reasonable. Thursday = All you can eat BBQ!
Pigeon Forge was easy to get to, easy to get around. ! Two grocery stores nearby, also.
Good customer service from Bear Camp.
The pictures are good for the posting but once you get there...........BOOM SHACKALACKA !!! Amazing.....great location. All the furniture and decor in the cabin was top quality and very nice. It was peaceful and quiet. You can see bird wildlife in the woods. My family and I went for 3 days......(family of 6) and had more than enough room. All you need to bring is your clothes and food to cook which there are several grocery stores nearby. Only 3 1/2 miles to Pigeon Forge, the Mountains (with zipline tracks over Them), the go cart tracks, Music Theaters, and the Old Mill restaurant where you can get the best meal you could imagine. We will definitely be back and will request this property again. Thank you so much Bear Camp for providing vacationers with superb Cabin. If you looking to stay in Pigeon Forge, stay here you will not regret it !!
