R & R Dude Ranch, Otto

I am shocked at the negative remarks and outright lies being written about the R&R Dude Ranch. My family and I have been going there for years. Not once have we ever had an unpleasant experience. I have been in every bungaloo,bunk house and cabin at the ranch and they are immaculate. Never had a problem with bugs in the room either. Alice takes pride in every aspect of her ranch from the down home cooking to the personalized decor in each accommodation. If you let Alice know ahead of time that you have a special diet such as being diabetic or vegetarian she will prepare a menu specific to that request. As far as pricing goes you couldn't find a better bang for you buck anywhere else. Consider the Horse Lovers Package-two nights,three days for $190.00. This includes your accommodations,tv with cable,horse back riding at least three times each day, buffet breakfast, tubing, hiking,fishing, bonfires at night,and a jacuzzi to relax in before you turn in at night,not to mention the wonderful staff who bend over backwards to insure that each person has a unique and unforgettable experience. This is a working horse ranch and flies just go along with the territory. They are however managed through the immediate clean up of horse manure and an organic spray used to repel the flies. It's up to you how involved you get at the ranch. You can let the staff do all the work (which they are more than happy to do) or you can groom and saddle up your horse. Personally, I love every thing about it from shoveling manure to helping out in the kitchen. I hope this review is read before you book your stay, because now that you know the honest truth about the R&R Dude Ranch you may want to stay longer.

My fiance and I spent a weekend with Alice and had a wonderful time. The cabin was clean and comfortable with a great view of the creek and the fireflies. The fishing was great, I caught a 12" Brown Trout within an hour of arriving, and only about 200 feet from my door. The horse girls were friendly and took us on rides whenever we wanted. There was a girl scout troop there and it still didn't feel crowded. She taught us everything we needed to know to ride safely, but also other other info like how to judge the personality of a horse and shared some fun stories about her life. The night time fire was great, with smores galore and live music from an accoustic folk-type singer. The meals were home made and the night time firefly ride is one of the most memorable sights I've ever seen. Even though it was 8 hours away, it was totally worth it and I'd love to go back some day.

Such a disappointment. If the weather is bad...don't go there is nothing to do! The idea of hanging out in a unheated lounge when its only 30 degrees out...not so great. We had 2 beds for 5 people. They expected 2 to 3 kids to sleep on a couch when they are paying full price. Alice told the girls they couldn't have food in the cabin when we have a kitchen in there?!?! As far as the food went it was nothing to brag about. She didn't even put the garlic bread in the oven. You were hassled if you went for seconds and not allowed to serve yourself. Also instead of making more than enough for everyone she rationed it. For example: One shrimp per person. Seriously? They had to come fix the heater since that wouldn't start. The power went out and they had absolutely no backup generators for even the house. That being said the water pump is electric as well. If there is a large group there...don't expect a hot shower. Overall completely disappointed in the trip as well as the cost. It might be nice when its 60+ degrees out but not when it's nasty. MJ is a complete Saint and did her very best to make it a better situation.

Terrific, home cooked food (breakfasts were incredible!) and clean comfortable room. Alice goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and right at home. I did the Horse Lovers Package-went riding 7 times over 3 days, relaxed in the jacuzzi, enjoyed the bonfires and spent the weekend in a totally serene setting. All of this for less than $250. I am a novice rider and the staff made sure I got a horse that was suitable for someone with my lack of experience. I had an excellent time and am looking forward to booking another weekend this summer!!

Breakfast was excellent, Alice could not do enough for us. 10 snowmobilers had a great time. Accomidations clean. At 1 point we broke a sled & Alice made arrangements with 1 of her staff to come pick up the broken snowmobile for us. I would return. Alice get the local club to mark & groom a trail from your properrty. Thank you

Thoroughly impressed with everything. A must visit for horse lovers.

We had an excellant time there the food was HOMEmade not processed store bought crap..Chicken and dumplings were just wonderful my favorite..We worked learned and enjoyed riding..and enjoyed the evening bombfires ..The rooms were clean Not posh like the ritz but its a dude ranch you get Horse crap on your shoes and hay in your hair..Sitting on the hill watching the water go by was so relaxing...you did things at your pace..yet helping the workers saddle up the horses and brushing them was awesome..Ellicottville is a stone throw away..A BEAUTIFUL place tucked in the hills of Catt. It was a less then a tank getaway and I am glad we went.
