Red Court Hotel, Nairobi

This is a good hotel with a convenient Barclays bank on the same lot. The security is good with high concrete walls, razor wire and guards at the gate. The restaurant is decent and the gym is excellent. There is a convenience store and inexpensive fast food restaurants within walking distance. In April 2008 they were just starting to build a swimming pool. There are 3 distinct noise problems though. If you stay on the top floor you will hear a wave like sound coming from the water tower. At about 4: 00 AM you get the Muslim prayer call from the local mosque...I guess not much can be done about that. There is a security dog rental company down the road and they load the dogs on a truck every morning about 5:00 AM...they bark very loud, there's just no way you're going to sleep through that. If he is still there, you'll want to get to know the bell hop Richard. He's talkative, funny and ready to serve you...I told him he should have been a comedian or used car salesman.
