Great place to work and relax
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/1/05
Gone are the days when the Sheraton was the place to be and see/be seen in Kampala. Mamba Point Guesthouse - for the small crowd that they can fit onto the premises - is the best value in Kampala. As anywhere in Kampala, things don't come cheap, and especially hotels. The price is very reasonable once you compare! It's a cozy size guesthouse, professional and clean. Fiona, Guido and Shereen put heart and soul into this place and that's what makes it special. Free internet access, a nice pool and bar, spacious enough rooms with their own terraces/balconies, meals on the main terrace or next door at their long-time popular Italian restaurant, gym for those who need to, and waking up to chirping birds on one of Kampala's green hills -- great way to work or holiday. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Kampala these days unless they made me - and sometimes they do; book ahead - it's a popular place and often fully booked; but always worth trying there first. All else is option 'B'.

A haven of tranquility
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/12/05
A haven of peace and tranquility, Mamba Point is a small, intimate, and friendly guesthouse. The guesthouse is located right next to the owner's wonderful Italian restaurant. The staff and management are friendly, helpful and efficient.

The only place I want to stay in Kampala
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/6/05
The previous reviewers seem to have said it all for me. Phrases like 'oasis' and 'home-away-from-home' may sound cliched, but they're also true of the Mamba Point. I've been traveling to Uganda for the last 12 years and it's now the only place I will stay. It was initially the free broadband internet connection which attracted me (and still does!), but it is also a wonderfully peaceful and friendly place to come back to after a hard day's work, and a perfect place to relax. The rooms are just beautiful--everything looks great and works the way it should. The breakfasts are amazing, and of course the restaurant next door is outstanding. As hosts, Guido, Fiona and Shireen have the rare knack of making you feel like one of the family, which everyone who travels a lot on business will know can be the difference between a good trip and a miserable one. My only complaint would be that it is now so popular that rooms aren't always available. My advice is to book early because staying anywhere else will be a big disappointment... once you've stayed at the Mamba Point you are spoiled for anywhere else!

Home away from home...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/18/05
Imagine you are a consultant, new to a country, working hard day and night, tired of moving from hotel to impersonal hotel. You can only DREAM of staying in a place that feels just like home. Well! Dream no more! Guido, Fiona and Shireen have worked hard to make Mamba Point just that - a home away from home. Cozy full board breakfasts, homemade brick oven pizzas, high speed (free!) Internet access in every room, a showerhead you will wish you had at home, a bartender by the pool for that afternoon hour of relax, and right next door a michelin-quality Italian restaurant. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Kampala. You won't either once you've been.

Bello!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/29/04
Mamba Point is wonderful. I previously stayed at the Sheraton in Kampala and was disappointed by the service, the rooms and the price. A friend recommended Mamba Point to me & I have never looked back. Guido & Fiona are superb hosts. The personal attention, friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms and the fact that the best Italian restaurant in East Africa is right next door all make for a pleasurable stay. Of course, don't forget the free internet access! Mamba Point is highly recommended.

The best place to stay in Uganda
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/04
I have been traveling to Uganda on business for several years now. Previously I had stayed at the Sheraton. But when Mamba Point opened, I gave them a try. Since then, I have never stayed anywhere else. Their service is great, the rooms are nice, Internet access is free, and there is a wonderful Italian restuarant on the premises.

A home away from home
By Felix, 9/8/04
Not only is the Mamba Point the finest Italian restaurant in Uganda and perhaps one of the best in eastern Africa, it is also a wonderful guesthouse -- a home away from home. Situated in a tranquil garden setting next to the restaurant, the guesthouse provides a peaceful and relaxing environment for the traveler. Whether you are on holidays or on business in Uganda, when you enter the guesthouse, all the worries of the day melt away. The hosts and staff are friendly and the guesthouse has a very inviting family atmosphere. For those who just cannot completely leave business behind (like myself) the free in-room 24/7 high speed Internet is the icing on the cake. Since the opening of the Mamba Point, it is the only place I want to stay in Uganda whenever I visit.

An Oasis in Kampala
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/25/04
Mamba Point is truly an oasis. The guesthouse is newly built with all needed amenities. One of its best features is it is quiet and away from the masses at the Sheraton and other hotels. Its other top feature is the food at the Mamba Point Restaurant. It is superb Italian cuisine and truly a relief in a city where excellent food can be hard to locate. The restaurant is rightfully a very popular place.

The layout of the guesthouse is welcoming with the terrific pool and outside bar in the center courtyard. When one enters at the end of a day of business, it is easy to leave things outside the walls of the grounds.

Guido and Fiona, the owners, are very welcoming and easy to talk with. Their attention to detail in the restaurant and the guesthouse shows their knowledge of the business and customer needs.

I am glad to have found this quality place.
