Service Excellence Exemplified
We thoroughly enjoyed our six night stay at The Atlantic, prior to Memorial Day weekend. Upon entering the hotel, the stage was set, as there was: nice relaxing music, a clean smell in the air and beautiful features throughout: marble floor, classy lighting and a friendly staff. Our room had just a partial view of the ocean, but it was still breathtaking from our balcony.
The room itself was great, so much room: a huge bathroom, with a shower and a bathtub, a separate room with the toilet, a big bedroom (with a comfortable king sized bed), a nice partial kitchen (fridge, w/ ice maker, sink, free coffee, microwave, stove top) and a nice television (which they will be upgrading to flat screens soon) and BOSE cd/alarm clock. The staff was very professional, friendly and quick to react to any questions and requests we had.
We did find out that the management for this hotel changed hands some time ago, so perhaps the reviewer (with the bed bugs) who stayed in the hotel in 2007, was received by the old management. Per the staff, the management now in place is very concerned with making everything perfect and paying attention to all details. An example was during one of the nights, we had some really rude neighbors that decided to have Euro-Techno-Party 2009 next door to us, with their BOSE absolutely cranked at 1 am in the morning, which was quite annoying. We called down to the front desk and they apologized for the inconvenience and immediately dispersed security upstairs to "deal with the situation"; sure it took 15 minutes for those assclowns to hear the knocking from security / phone calls from the front desk, but when they answered the door, they did turn down the music. Another example of the management’s commitment to detail occurred when our automatic ice machine didn’t function correctly; a handyman was dispersed to our room, he cleaned/repaired the machine. After the ice machine failed to work, he switched fridges for us and even when that didn’t work (probably something wrong with the piping); room service came to our room and filled up our freezer with ice.
The food was very untypical of hotel food, as the items on the menu were delicious, equivalent to that of an upscale dining establishment. The food was pricey, but the quality was excellent.
As far as other restaurants were concerned, all we had to do was jump in cab and be brought to Las Olas Blvd for other options, but that became pricey (for the taxi rides); so we walked down the strip a few nights and ate at a few different establishments, which were good. The hotel's bars provides its guests with happy hour, during the week, 4pm - 7pm, in which they have reduced prices for: beer, wine, martini's and well drinks (rum & coke, vodka & soda water, etc); plus they do not skimp on the alcohol whatsoever.
On the fifth floor, the hotel has a spa, fitness center and outside there is pool, sun chairs and a nice bar, but the big selling point was just being across the street from the beach, which while the weather during our stay was sub par; the sun was still out during the morning/early afternoon, but the weather became quite unpredictable during the afternoons. The hotel provided plenty of beach towels, in addition to free water and fruit (oranges, apples).
We certainly want to come back to this hotel in a few years and if the weather cooperates, take in some water sports, the glass bottom boat and take in an airboat ride in the Everglades. We would not want to try a different hotel, whether we would save a few bucks or not, The Atlantic is a beautiful establishment, which is committed to service excellence to all of their guests and making their stays memorable.
