The Roach Motel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/11
Liked nothing about the place. When we got there the room we reserved wasn,t available. The rates were higher than what we agreed to. The room was overun with roaches, the beds nasty, found genital hairs on pillows, mattress had brown stains and no support, socks turned black from walking on carpet. One of the worst places in PC.

NEVER AGAIN... Take Warning.........
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/15/11
When we got there, The reservation we had made months prior, was not what we asked for.. They switched the reservations around.. we paid extra for what we wanted, but didnt get... we were double booked with another lady.. We didnt get the price we was quoted, we had to pay more.. The staff was very rude.. We had to hunt down housekeeping to clean our room.. When they finally came to clean the room, they took all of our towels, but didnt replace them.. We were there from Sunday Morning til Thursday morning.. Our room was half way cleaned one time.. Then it rained, the room under us had a leak. we were asked if we poured out a cooler full of water.. I will never stay here again.. It is nasty and has bugs.. you would think the price you pay for these rooms, they could atleast have an upkeep on the building.. The rooms have an odor.. Outside our room, smelled like urine.. It was just gross... I love the beach, but will find another vacation spot..

Don't waste your money
By Dee, 8/16/10
The tub and toilet ware backed up. It was obvious, so if the room was cleaned shouldn't the maid have told them before I walked into that nightmare. The rooms are a little run down, I know its old but I think that could have been caught and then I would have only thought old not gross. They tried to fix it while we waited and then had to move us and call in a plumber. I've stayed there before and didn't think it was to bad but I think for the price I can stay elsewhere. The rooms had a lot of towels I like that but they need new pillows. My mom looked at them peeking out of the cases and said they were the originals and brown.

OLD SOUTH hospitality
By The Mrs., 6/17/10
I called ahead and was approved of a lower rate. When I arrived, the front desk clerk Kayla was less than willing to even check to find out if indeed my rate was changed. Even after I explained who lowered my rate, she just took one look at me(I am african american) and rudely began a spill about how they NEVER change there rates lower and that thats just something they don't EVER do. I asked to speak to the manager, and when he did show up, low and behold he WAS the person who adjusted my rate in the first place. He told her the same thing I had been telling her all along. She couldn't even give me the benefit of the doubt when I described who adjusted it! She didn't even apologize for her mistake, so I politely made it known that next time she'll know that rate adjustments CAN be done. The manager was very nice, but because she left a bad taste in my mouth as well as my guest, I wouldn't ever stay at this hotel again. Unfortunately that wasn't the only bad experience we had there. Confederate flags everywhere and some bad attitudes from the locals. The travelers however were all very nice.

Stay Away
By lizabeth5, 7/27/09
Interesting place to stay! Akin to a trailer park, Beachbreak is a good ol' boys haven. Rich with cigarette smoking, beer drinking, cooler toting, country music playing, passed out in patio chairs guests, this place was not my cup of tea. The rooms are clean enough, but the public areas are filthy and awful. A real dump! Do yourself a favor and pay the extra $50 per day and stay at the Legacy (nx door). Same owners - but worlds apart.

NICE LOCATION RIGHT ON BEACH
By william norris, 3/6/08
NICE LOCATION. WE HAVE STAYED HER FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS MONTHS AT A TIME. OUR ENTIRE FAMILY BOOKED 3 ROOMS FOR THIS CHRISTMAS MORE THAN 6 MONTHS IN ADVANCE AND HAD NONE! IS GOING DOWN HILL FAST. USED TO BE FREINDLY AND GREAT PLACE TO STAY. NOW THEY OVER BOOK, IF YOU DO HAVE A ROOM WHEN YOU GET THERE THEY KEEP MOVING YOU AROUND. DON'T LEAVE ANYTHING OUT IN YOUR ROOM YOU VALUE IT WILL DISAPPEAR. ROOMS LEAK AND ARE DIRTY. THEY DO NOT CARE IF YOU HAVE STAYED THERE FOR YEARS YOU ARE A NOBODY TO THEM BUT MONEY. THE ONLY GOOD THING IS THE MAINTENCE MAN ROGER, HE WILL GO OUT OF HIS WAY TO HELP!

awesome trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/08
My husband had never seen the ocean and to have it right outside our room was perfect. Though beachbreak is not as "beautiful" as the high rises.... you get the same view, same white sand, and hospitality as the bigger hotels. We spent four nights in a room with the king bed. It provided a fridge and small stove and all dishes and silverware to go with! Our only complaint was the bed.. not too comfy... but since we spent most of our time out of it.. wasn't too much of a problem. Staff is all so friendly. And talking to the other guests who come back year after year, well now we know why. We went the middle of January and loved it. We will surely be back next year!

We loved it before, and the Barefoot Bar & Grill right next door makes it even better! Looking forward to our next stay in 2008.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/07
Beach Break may not be the most luxurious hotel on the beach, but I would certainly put it at the top for VALUE, VIEW, CLEANLINESS AND STAFF FRIENDLINESS. Our last three vacations have been spent at Beach Break and we have already made our reservation for next year. My wife and I travel with another copule and we find the accommodations at Beach Break perfect for us. The unit we stayed in is on the second floor... the ocean view is magnificent. Our unit included a bathroom, kitchenette with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and toaster. The cabinets hold all the basics...pans, skillet, dishes, glasses and silverware. The hotel furnishes the kitchen with fresh dish cloths, dish soap and coffee packets daily. One bedroom has it's own TV and air conditioning unit. The other adjoins the sitting area where there is a table and chairs, a couch, and a nice size TV. There's a small balcony from which you can watch the sea gulls, the activity on the beach and at the pool, or just sit back, relax, and enjoy the magnificent view and the mesmerizing sound of the ocean. Since we spend most of our time at the beach or the pool, not in the room, what we look for is value. We like to spend the majority of our vacation money on food, drinks and entertainment, and a minimal amount on travel and hotel expense. Beach Break provides exactly what we want. The pool, hot tub and grounds are well maintained, every room has a terrific ocean view, and the beach is right outside your door. The staff is always scurrying around taking care of business, but they never fail to smile and give a pleasant greeting. Ricc, the day manager, has been consistently helpful to us with our reservations and information about local attractions and activities. The managers are always ready to help in any way they can. When we arrived this past summer, one of the air conditioning units was not functioning properly. We called the office and within ten minutes, the maintenance people arrived, and in less than thrity minutes a new unit was installed. The promptness and efficiency of the staff is remarkable. The continental breakfast furnished by the hotel provided our breakfast, and the kitchenette gave us the opportunity to eat lunch and snacks in the room. We even used the bar-b-cue pit provided by the hotel to cook dinner one evening. There's a grocery store and a Target within a couple miles and construction was underway for several other stores that should be complete by next summer and are within walking distance. There are several good restaurants in the area, however, we were especially pleased this past year when we found that the Barefoot Bar & Grill had opened right next door to Beach Break. The food and drinks were excellent, local musicians played on the weekends, and the service was outstanding. The waitresses remembered us after just one visit, and Shelly, the bartender, was terrific. She has a dry sense of humor that keeps her customers entertained. Barefoot radiates a fun atmosphere where everybody laughs and shares stories from their parts of the country. Barefoot Bar & Grill is definitely an attractive amenity to Beach Break. In addition, when we were there, Beach Break guests received a 10% discount at the Barefoot. If you're looking for a clean hotel at a reasonable rate with a friendly staff and a great view from every room, definitely check out Beach Break by the Sea...you won't be disappointed.
