NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
By ,
the hotel is nice, the waiters are very attentive, but other staff not very helpful, especially management. on my second day, i slipped coming down from the spa and fell on my right elbow. I got a deep cut and was bleeding alot. The floor is very slippery. to my aid came two security guards, who really were not trained in providing first aid. i asked for the manager and was told that it's my fault for using the spa and that nobody has fallen in their hotel before. i asked if they had a doctor, the manager, said "yes" but i woull pay for it. after arguing, he agreed to pay for the doctor. The doctor went to my room, put a gauze and bandages and told me that if i wanted x-rays to check if my elbow was broken to go to a clinic the next day but the hotel wouldn't cover it. So, that ruined my vacation and it has been two weeks and my elbow is still hurting. i went to the doctro when i came back to californiam, is not broken, but it still hurts!!! during my whole stay (i try to get a fluorescent lamp in my bathroom and it never happened) first, because they didn't have the lamp, then later because they didn't have the ballast. The service guy said he will come back and never did.

Our Ruined Honeymoon
By ,
My wife and I returned from our honeymoon trip to Cancun where we stayed in this hotel in September 2005. We are extremely disappointed in the many problems we experienced in this hotel and the staff effectively ruined our honeymoon. We spent far too much of our time trying to get things fixed in our room just so that we could do basic things like take a shower, instead of enjoying our honeymoon. While the hotel grounds were lovely and the food and drinks were generally good, our honeymoon was basically a disaster because of the terrible service we experienced from the staff and management team. So many things were wrong with our room and each day we made calls and pleaded with the staff to fix them. No running water, broken a/c, broken jacuzzi, broken bathroom door - we spent two days flushing toilets using a bicket. We have complained to the hotel manager in writing and the RIU company and received no response. So I urge you, stay away from this hotel. There are too many other nice places in Cancun to stay.

Wont go back
By ,
The food was ok. Met some people and wanted to have dinner with 6 people and the Japanese restaurant would not accomodate us. Didnt like that you had a dress code for dinner we are on vacation for heavens sake. Also that you had to get up and physically go down every morning and make reservations for dinner.

Awesome!!!!!!!
By ,
My husband and I just returned from our vacation to cancun. This is the best experience I have ever had on any vacation! The service was wonderful, the food was great, very clean facilities...the nicest people I have ever met.The beds were a little on the hard side but we were so exausted when we went to bed that it really didn't make a difference! The staff made sure we had a wonderful trip and it was just so relaxing! We are already planning our trip for next year!

Perfect place to relax
By ,
We spent the week over Thanksgiving at the Riu Palace and it was a very entertaining and relaxing week. My husband never left the hotel and was never bored. The activity group was outstanding as was everybody else. Great customer service. The food was excellent, we loved the Italian restaurant. The variety in the main dining room is great. The cleaning crew was fantastic. We met a lot of interesting people. You never feel alone. When it was to windy or cool, activities were moved in the theatre. Osiris is an excellent dance teacher and entertainer. I'm still dancing the Salsa. There is nothing that I disliked about the place.
