RIU Cancun All-Inclusive, Cancun

I love the hotel,service,food,drinks everything is good don't feel afraid if is you're first time in there and beds are not too bad especial after a couple margaritas!!

I wrote the BEAUTIFUL review a couple years ago. Looking back now at how long it was and how I tried to include EVERYTHING, its truely impossible. I look for great amenities when traveling to different places and of ALL the places I've been to, RIU CANCUN tops the charts. Please book your vacation ASAP! Reading over the review again, reminds me of how much I LOVED it there and how much I should be on the ball of planning a second venture there again. Its FANTASTIC. YOU WON'T REGRET! =)

My family stayed at the RIU Cancun for 7 nights. The hotel and location is absolutely beautiful. Best public restrooms I have seen in a hotel. Overall the staff was friendly and provided great service. Bar services very good. Food overall was very good and we could usually find something to satisfy our picky appetites. On one evening, the chef cooked fish we caught earlier in the day and it was excellent. However, scheduling a reservation for the restaurants required standing in line to sign up at 7am and within 20 minutes, the restaurants were full. The beach and pool areas were beautiful, but in order to get a chair you had to reserve it by 9am or you were left with broken ones. Entertainment crew was friendly and fun. Shows were entertaining, however you generally had to enter early to get a decent seat. You should also double check your money transactions with the front desk to make sure you they are accurate. I was disappointed that we were shorted within the hotel itself until questioned. Otherwise, good overall experience.

This is the best hotel and vacation I've ever been on! The Hotel was clean, the room was nice (since it was beach view). The service was really good and the food was awesome!! The drinks they had there were delicious and the entertainment staff was very creative. I would be very thankful if you answer this question. There is a entertainment staff member and we need to know his name. He was about shoulder length black hair, he usually ties it up in a ponytail and when he does, it's about one inch long. Hope you can tell me his name! I would go back there anytime! It is the best hotel ever!!

Arrived in Cancun 9:30a.m, Passed through customes and off we were on the bus for 20 minutes.. Arrival at Riu Cancun check in was a pleasure, our room was ready 1401 (it was perfect). While the beds are hard, I had no trouble sleeping.... The food (I am a picky eater) was amazing every evening! Of course a chocolate martini prior was perfect: ) Never did go to the two a la carte restaurants as we enjoyed eating on the terrace each evening. True the sun is gone by 3:30, we were out on the beach by 8:30 - 9:00 the water is warm..Never had a problem getting a lounger and sipping colada... In the late afternoon we would have a latte sit on the terrace people watching while we sipped... Then off to our room for a shower and rest before that wonderful martini and dinner! After a great meal we would either have a specialty coffee and go to the show... Grease, Michael Jackson... The entertainment did not disappoint. We met so many people whom we would spend the rest of the evening with ... good drinks and great conversation. Must do's... Swimming with the dolphins is a must.... Trip to Isla Meheres for the day is perfect! I would stay at this hotel or any Riu in the future... Enjoy your trip!! Remeber your vacation is what you make it... If you want to have an amazing time you will... If you are the type of person who finds fault with everything stay home!

i love this hotel! i've been there twice so far and i cant wait to go back. i love the entertainment they put on and all the activites they have throughtout the day. i would definately recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to have a good time!

this resort is very clean and the staff do what ever it takes to make your stay enjoyable lots of activities each and every day around the pools. the food is great and service to there is four restaurants in the hotel so lots to choose from.they also have a disco club,a lounge,sports bar,and a theatre which they put on a nightly show.when we went back this year the staff new us as soon as we walked in the front lobby.most of them besides the new sfaff said welcome back. it is great to see our extended family.they have in room safe and you get your own key they also have mini fridge which is stalked with corona beer every second day and also liqor dispenser with four types of liquor the best being tequila.our rooms were cleaned every day with some sort of art made out of towels or sheets on our beds as displays this is definitely a four star resort.there is nothing to dislike about this resort. we are going back again in jan/2008Our representives were great help with anything you wanted to. Thanks again for a wonderful stay and we will see you in january.

likes: walking distance to mall, club strip, shopping, bus stop. amazing beach, water activities, pool games, theater, bar pool, friendly staff, great restaurants, 24/7 food. the resort is beautiful and well kept. the workers are accommodating and speak English well too. dislikes: the only thing i can think of is the uncomfortable bed! but that wasn't a biggie at all! tips: Defintely check out some excursions like Xel-Ha and Chichen Itza. (Modern Wonder of the World) Take your time and do research before you book. The mall right across the hotel has many vendors that offer rates almost 50% less than hotel charges. We booked one at hotel and then one when we visited mall a couple days into trip. Bring an umbrella, waterproof camera, and lots of one dollar bills or coins for tips! This resort is great for young couples, honeymooners, and party goers. If you want a more relaxed and sophisticated experience check out the Riu Palace resort next door.

Sometimes a few bucks savings is not worth a vacation of a sub- standard resort.People believe me the place is O.K- But stay away from cancun- Go to playa del carmen, This place needs a total re-work. From the staff down..1 exception the pool staff- great..Mexico has always been good to me until- our last trip..Cabo san Lucas great- Playa Del carmen Great.The RIU at cancun is different. If you don't mind slamming doors that awake you at all hours of the night--this is your place.You don't want this after parrtying all day .Do not get a room on the 13 th. floor.No kiddng. I Got 2 rooms which have a great view of a wall..Yes a Wall..I had to stand on a chair to see the beach..I complained to the front office and the Told me they could help me tommrow. Great I thought no problem.. Well then It turned out Well Tommrow" Another words I was not treated right- Lied to by front desk people who keep going to another back room to get a answer to me. I stayed at many RIU'S and have praised them.But this place here for some reason does not know how to deal with people-only to make them heppy for the instant/I hate to rag on but ..NO-CLASS-- stay away.I could go on and on but until Cancun becomes friendlier . Head down the ROAD/ Staff is Non- Responsive and the RIU Mgt. Looks the other way/ You can do Better..

Riu Playacar is not all what it is cracked up to be. I was disappointed in numerous ways. I worked for a market research firm dedicated to helping its clients better understand the needs and preferences of their customers. & have been traveling to Cancun in the past 10 years stayed at many other resorts in the Cancun & Riviera Maya & nothing compare to the Riu Playacar, unless these is the only place you known or you live similar like the hotel these is the worst Resort in the whole place. Pool area I was disappointed that the pools are overcrowded with very hot contaminated water, we got ear infection after the 2nd day we stay there, also you need to have cards to get a beach towel, and not enough beach chair or umbrellas to protect you from the sun. Other hotels have a waiter/waitress at the pool). But at Riu you either had to get in the pool or walk around to get a drink. Food: The food was buffet style is OK the workers are amazing to please you the only problem is the roach infestation they crawl everywhere. And for the other restaurants you need to get up at 7am to reserve for the steak, seafood or Mexican, also there are no coffee pots in the rooms. Entertainment: These is the only thing I like about Riu we went to one show The Maya show it was very good . The entertainment crew works very hard day and night to keep everyone happy and entertained. I thought they were excellent. Room: The beds are hard. Plus I ended up getting bitten by bed bugs while I was there as well... The room we stayed in was in need of a good deep cleaning, there is going to be some mildew, but the ceiling in our shower definitely needed to be cleaned & repair. The grout in the rest of the room (especially the bathroom), also could have used a thorough cleaning. Additionally, our shower did not drain properly which left us standing in about 4 inches of water each time. The beds are pushed together to make one large bed with one headboard. If you ask for 1 king size bed, it's a smaller room with a much smaller bed. Do you like to be woken up by loud and rowdy people & buses coming in & out from the next door hotel because the walls are so thin you hear everything and you end up not getting any sleep? be careful of hard beds, & thin walls you hear everything if you want to rest, plus the musty smelling rooms. Bath Towels: Time to get some new ones. The ones we had were raggedy and faded. Definitely not the towels I'd put out for your guess unless they are homeless. Riu Playcar really needs to re-upholster their outside restaurant chairs. Sometimes I didn't want to sit down because of all the mildew. (Yuck!) Beach I was incredibly disappointed with the beach erosion. They lost a lot of beach there. (Not like they had a lot to begin with). Then, they have, as mentioned in a lot of other reviews, a lot of huge sand bags on the beach and in the water, the bags make the water smell so bad like sewer There was also quite a lot of seaweed to swim thru, making the experience a lot less enjoyable. Security mayor problem with security rooms keys are actual keys and not key cards. Room number is printed right on the key so doesn’t loose it? The Safe box is also operated with a key. I accidentally forgot my room number and I opened someone else room. Terrible place would NOT recommend it even to my worse enemy thinking of traveling there, the Riu Playacar is very old and definitely not a 5 star resort is more like ½ star resorts.
