RIU Cancun All-Inclusive, Cancun

This was our 1st trip and Riu Cancun was great. The staff was very friendly, the pool areas were nice, the room and the view were awesome. The food was okay. That was my least favorite part.The coffee was excellent though. We had a great time and if we go back the Riu is where we will stay. It is located within walking distance of the mall, shopping area, and restaurants. There is also a starbucks right across the street. For all you starbucks lovers. I even had spilled sunscreen on some clothes in my luggage and they had them drycleaned for a small fee. My husband and I had a wonderful time.

Can't say anything bad about the RIU. Everything was great. Staff, food, beach, pools, etc. All the bad reviews must be coming from owners of other hotels in Cancun, who want guests to come to their hotel instead. Or they are chronic complainers. We were only there for 5 days. Will try to be back next year, for 7 days. Would absolutely recommend this Hotel to anyone!!! Thank You RIU Cancun for 5 fabulous days!!!

It may have been the best vacation we have ever took. I think some of it may be due to the swine flu scare because the hotel was not at full capacity but the service and amenities were great for us. We had a group of 12 stay for four nights including an 8 and 6 year old. We did not use any of the kids features but they had a blast at the beach or at the pool or even in the sports bar playing games. We always saw people cleaning, painting or fixing something. The people who worked there were extremely friendly. Nobody took an excursion because there was enough at the hotel to keep us busy. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We plan on making a return trip in the future.

My husband and I love this place. We went there 3 years ago and loved it so much, that we had our wedding there last year. Its our vacation spot and we look forward to going back again next year. Great Food, service and amazing views. And you cant beat being right in downtown canun. Full of night life and shopping right around the corner (literally).

(the guy with shoulder length hair, usually ties it up, 1 inch long) someone has to know his name!! I might be going back soon!! And I can't wait at all!!!

My wife and I loved this hotel. The room and environs were very clean. The grounds and view of the ocean were awesome. We only stayed one night as we were on our way home but we would definitely recommed it and would come again.

Been to other All inslusive's which left a much more positive result. Bed's were VERY HARD. Pool Bar does not open until 10am (not sure if others were open was by the pool relaxing looking for something/anything to drink close by). Food not available from 10am to noon, or 3pm to 6pm (all restaurants closed). Service not good. Not worth the money.

Food was great, especially when compared to stories from other hotels. While you had to get up early to reserve beach/pool space, it was a delight to finish one's sleep outdoors here. Safe for youths - 17 becomning 21!!

We just got back from 4 night stay a the Riu Cancun. The property is beautiful, the pools are very nice although lounge chair space is fairly limited. If you had not picked out a spot by the pool by 10 a.m. you could pretty much forget about laying out. The poolside bar was nice, the mixed drinks were always good but the beer was always a bit flat and skunky tasting. There is almost no beach whatsoever, so again you are very limited as to where you can soak up some sun. The room was nicely appointed with modern bathroom, mini-fridge, liquor dispenser, and private balcony with a great view. My only complaint regarding the room is that the bed was quite firm and whenever you had your balcony door open AND tried to close your door to the hallway, the wind/suction would force the door to violently slam shut. This was a bit disturbing as it would happen all night as other guests came and went from their rooms. Because it is a higher quality property, we did not encounter mobs of obnoxious high school and university kids. The guests were mostly honeymooners and families. Now for the food. if you are a fan of "all you can eat" buffets and don't mind sacrificing quality for quantity then this is your place. While there was plenty to choose from, the sheer lack of taste and quality left me rather disappointed and hungry for much of our stay. If you are seeking nightlife, there are numerous European style nightclubs a short walk down the main street from the hotel. Entrance cost is typically $5-$10 U.S. to get in OR $20-$40 for "all you can drink" their drink prices were definitely on par with what you would find in most bars/clus in the US. A far cry from the great drink deals that i expected to find in Mexico. We had the most fun at Senor Frogs, great American Dance music, no pushy "shot girls" like all of the other clubs. My expectations were high and i came away a bit disappointed in general. By the way, I'm from New Orleans so I know what good food and a great party are all about

You cant argue this place isn't gorgeous. The architecture and restaurants were over the top and the courtyard below was well executed. The rooms were a bit less impressive; humble but tolerable. The bathroom was more spacious than the bedroom. On the 4th day of our trip the elevator broke down ( we were on the 12th floor ) and was broken for 3 days following. ( Evidently quite a few people were trapped in the elevators as we heard horror stories in the buffet later that evening.) Our toilet broke down and it took 2 hours for a 'repair man' to come up to fix it. He finagled a little system of strings to 'fix' the problem as we later discovered when the toilet -yet again- broke down. The theater's performances were kind of a joke. Although the Mexican Michael Jackson running around with white face paint and grabbing his crotch was amusing. The bars were the best thing hands down. However one of the more disturbing aspects of my trip was one night when we came back to the hotel room we heard a commotion in the room directly above us. We gathered from about an hours worth of yelling it had been a couple drunk and screaming about how the woman had been flirting too much at the bar. We started to get a bit concerned as we heard quite a bit of furniture being thrown about and scuffling so we called the front desk. Their response was 'Oh they've been going at it for a while, it'll be fine.' We sat for another 30 minutes listening to the arguing before I heard a woman screaming "Please don't hit me!" and the balcony door sliding open. Once again we called the front desk in a panic, and once again the woman at the front desk assured us everything would be fine. We ran outside to see a myriad of other vacationers out in the hallway forming a group of all males to go up and take care of the problem themselves. It was disturbing the lack of consideration and I'm very surprised no one was seriously injured that night. If anyone is considering this hotel please please PLEASE be cautious and don't rely on the staff to look out for your safety.
