133 reviews for Riu Cancun All Inclusive, Cancun
Our best trip ever
By Griselda, 01/23/10
Me and my husband loved our trip to Cancun. The hotel was very clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. This hotel has excellent activities for everyone from adults, teens and childrens. The food was very good too. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Me and my husband will return to this hotel again in 2010, with our two girls. It was worth every penny. This was a very fun and relaxing vacation. Don't always believe other comments, untill u see for yourself.

We loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/05/10
We just got back from Rui Cancun and we loved it. I had read other reviews before booking and I was a little leary but booked anyway because there were more positive reviews then negative. I am so happy I did. The food was excellent with a lot of choice. I was never asked even once for a tip but I did tip on many occasions as the service was excellent. The rooms were ok, had everything we needed, could use some cosmetic updates but we did not go the Cancun to stay in our room. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The best part of our stay was the entertainment team. They had activities for the young and old and made a point to speak to everyone and involve all of the guests in the activities. (I have been to resorts where only the young and cute girls are invited to participate) The games were fun for those who did them and fun for those who chose to watch. Location can't be beat. Less then 5 minute walk to shopping and clubs. The hotel was very clean. I saw staff cleaning all day, in the lobby, staire wells, bathrooms, ect....we were there over Christmas and New Years and there was a very classy New Years party at the pool side until 2 am. There was streamers and noise makers, glasses, party hats everywhere (by the pool and all the way to the rooms, though the lobby) and at 7am the next morning, you would not have known that there had been a party for 1500 people hours before. All the mess had been cleaned up . I would recommend it to families, single people and couples. There is something for everyone.

A great place to stay!!!! I highly recommend!!!!!
By Tracy, 12/14/09
We can't find any dislikes about the Riu Cancun. We just got back from there and are ready to go back again. The staff was very friendly, very helpful if we had any questions, and made us feel like a king and queen while staying there. The food was excellent, the drinks were strong, and the hotel was very clean. We couldn't have asked for more! Thanks to all of the staff at Riu Cancun for truly making our vacation a stress-free one!

Worst Hotel Experience Ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/25/09
I was so disapointed in our stay. We spent 2 nights there and could hardly wait to go home. The men at the front desk were extremely rude, the food was disapointing and felt like I was eating in a cafeteria, the elevator was extremely hot and didn't go up unless you were on the ground floor, the rooms were hot and humid, did not cool down at all even with air conditioning on full blast. I would never recommend this hotel.

A wonderful hotel with a great location
By Simeon, 10/08/09
My wife and I stayed there with another couple (all in late 20s to early 30s) between Sep 24 and Sep 28. We booked thru the RIU web site and paid apprx $700/ person including airfare from JFK and transfers from/to the airport. The hotel is very beautiful with a great location and awesome staff. We were a little hesitant in the beginning since we read some negative reviews about the cleanliness, service and the type of crowds that go there. At the worst we expected a sub par establishment with mediocre food, overcrowded with drunks and staff relentlessly asking for tips. Fortunately, we could not see any of that during our stay there! Everything was very well organized with great attention to detail and emphasize on punctuality. First with the hotel... the property is located within 5 min from the Zona Hotelera, which is the place to be for night-life (personally I found the Zona Hotelera to be a little bit too "touristy" with the heart being an American style mall with Hard Rock Cafe in the middle). The RIU Cancun is pretty big with several pools, 4 restaurants, night club, theater (where the hotel entertainment takes place) and several bars. We decided to go with RIU since our friends have been at other RIUs in the Caribbean and swear by the brand for reasonable prices and unmatched all-inclusive features on top of great locations. Overall we found it to be pretty clean and very well maintained and also charming for a resort this size. We can be pretty discerning when it comes to food, but I think that one should keep in mind that all-inclusives try to cater to different people from various nationalities and back grounds, therefore we found the food to be of higher quality and of quite an assortment. The Rodizio and Japanese restaurants (reservations in the morning of are required) are decent but nothing to write home about (after all this is Mexico and these are restaurants all under the all-inclusive label) Most of the rooms are ocean view and we found them to be clean, spacious and well appointed with amenities. The TV was a bit fuzzy on some channels, but who goes to Mexico to watch TV? While we were there we booked a day trip to Xel-Ha water park with a stop at the Mayan city of Tulum. Regretfully one full day is not enough to enjoy the water park and also to immerse at the ancient city of Tulum—we felt overwhelmed and rushed by the clock. Tulum is nice but small and pales in comparison to Chichen Itza. Another think we did was to explore the Market 28—we took the city bus and spent some time there browsing the shops selling local pottery and souvenirs. We felt safe and had tons of fun. Last but not least, we were very impressed with the generosity, humor and genuine intent to help of the staff and locals who made our holiday unforgettable. We highly recommend the RIU Cancun.

Very Happy w/Our Stay & would Definitely Return
By Oh Please, 08/20/09
Upon check in we were upgraded to a corner suite. Very nice and spacious room. View was awesome!! Inside was ok, but we had to keep in mind that it's very hard to maintain such a room being so close to the ocean and humidity. Ton's of staff on duty and every single one of them was constantly working. Everyone was nice and very accommodating. love the all inclusive resorts!! Only complaint was the restaurant reservations. Make sure you make them prior to coming or you will have no place to eat other than the buffet. Make sure you get in to eat at Kawachi's. Excellent Food!!

Will Not Recommend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/20/09
Hotel rooms are hot and humid. Elevators are small and very hot. The bed sheets were old and had bed bugs, and the maintanence of the rooms were not great. The cleaning ladies use the same towels to mop the floors. My toilet clogged three times and the hotel staff did not make an attempt to change my room. The front lobby staff, men especially were rude and not helpful, and took a few days to speak to a manager to file a complaint, by than our trip was over. The restaurants were good, location was great to walk around the shops, nightlife. The pools were clean, but the beach itself had rocks and not very clean, had seaweed all over the beach front. I enjoyed my time outside of the hotel room and hotel itself b/c of the issues i had to face. I will not recommend this resort to couples, only b/c its a family resort, and the rooms themselves are not great. I will not return to this resort in the near future, and the all inclusive package isnt as rewarding as you think, and most importantly, the resort offers no room service.

Great Place to Stay
By Dodie, 06/12/09
This was our 1st trip and Riu Cancun was great. The staff was very friendly, the pool areas were nice, the room and the view were awesome. The food was okay. That was my least favorite part. The coffee was excellent though. We had a great time and if we go back the Riu is where we will stay. It is located within walking distance of the mall, shopping area, and restaurants. There is also a starbucks right across the street. For all you starbucks lovers. I even had spilled sunscreen on some clothes in my luggage and they had them drycleaned for a small fee. My husband and I had a wonderful time.

Highly recommended Hotel
By Dennis, 06/10/09
Can't say anything bad about the RIU. Everything was great. Staff, food, beach, pools, etc. All the bad reviews must be coming from owners of other hotels in Cancun, who want guests to come to their hotel instead. Or they are chronic complainers. We were only there for 5 days. Will try to be back next year, for 7 days. Would absolutely recommend this Hotel to anyone!!! Thank You RIU Cancun for 5 fabulous days!!!

Awesome
By BRETT, 05/25/09
It may have been the best vacation we have ever took. I think some of it may be due to the swine flu scare because the hotel was not at full capacity but the service and amenities were great for us. We had a group of 12 stay for four nights including an 8 and 6 year old. We did not use any of the kids features but they had a blast at the beach or at the pool or even in the sports bar playing games. We always saw people cleaning, painting or fixing something. The people who worked there were extremely friendly. Nobody took an excursion because there was enough at the hotel to keep us busy. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We plan on making a return trip in the future.
