I travel every week and am a very loyal Marriott rewards member, but this specific Fairfield in Yakima has to be on my list of worse offenders.
The first thing that caught my attention was that carpet in the elevator was dirty, this was followed by the halllway carpet being dirty. As I entered the king suite the room smelled fresh at the door. However, in the bedroom area, the smell was moldy like mildew in the air conditioner unit. After running the unit for a while the entire room smelled like a bad case of mildew. I asked to be moved to another room which was a down grade to a standard king I noticed the same mildew smell. (so ended up staying put)
I requested that the filters be changed, but to no avail.
If you like to be presented with a clean hotel stay, I would recommend avoiding this location.
We stayed at this hotel about a year ago and really enjoyed our stay. The service was nice and accomodating. We enjoyed the amneties e.g the comfy TV room that also is the breakfast room that served as our "restaurant" at night. The outdoor pool was nice if basic. Overall good experience.
If Marriott only knew, I am sure they would be embarrassed to be associated with this hotel based on their lousy customer service. But fortunately for the hotel, there aren't a lot of decent choices in Yakima. It's new, clean, convenient location, but their staff is one of the worst I've ever come across and beware of making online reservations. They will criticize you for it, even if the reservation was made on Marriott's own website.
