Will not stay there again

I stayed at the this location last year for three days, and really enjoyed my stay. However, this year everything was okay except for the burns in the comforter and the surprise "Express Checkout Bill" that was slipped under my door during the early morning hours of our checkout day.
I didn't sign-up for, request, nor was I offered,"Express Checkout". I really felt insulted, as a guest. How tacky!!!
Before leaving I went to the front desk to ascertain why my card had been charged and the bill slipped under my door. The desk clerk apparently saw that I was annoyed and attempted to explain that the charged bill that I held in my hand was actually not charged and that she could check me out now. It was clear to me that she was backpeddling and that, if I handed her the charged bill, she would have produced another charged bill identical to the one that I was holding.
I walked away from the desk to the managers office a few feet away to speak to the manager. I again asked why the charged bill was slipped under my door. The manager instantly became defensive and displayed a rude attitude. She made no effort to reasonably explain the policy and indicated that this is done in hotels all across the country. She was very hostile and sneered "Have a nice day" as we were leaving. Just a statement like, "I'm sorry that this caused confusion." would have diffused the situation.
Although the manager insisted that they do this with all of their guests, and all hotels across the country use Express Checkout, so people don't have to come to the front desk to check out, I stayed at this same hotel last year and received no Express Checkout Bill. So, to me this was something new.
I disputed her statement with her, because I knew that this was not true. I'm over 55 and this was certainly not my first hotel stay.
The desk clerk was not able to explain the policy. There was no mention of the Express Checkout when we checked in. And when I walked out I was still holding the charged bill that had been slipped under my door during the early morning hours.
I believe that their use of "Express Checkout" in my case was selective. My wife and I happen to be an interracial couple.
