Splendor Taichung, Taichung

At around 10PM, I got a phone call from the reception that they have to change room rate tomorrow. If I can't accept it, I have to go out. It's a supprize that the hotel change the rate after checking in and kick out guest if can't accept the new rate. And everytime I checking in(I stayed this hotel almost once(around 2 to 3 nightes) per month this year), the room rate was changed. I had to ask reception to check my previous room rates and apply the same rate. I'll never come back to this hotel again.

Good service with professional staff. Good food! The environment is clean and tidy. Great selection of restaurants and local or western food. Freidly and courteous staff with excellent tast in fine and Cigar.

I was quite impressed by the design and decor of the hotel, it was very contemporary but too bad it wasn't maintained well. It could have been a very nice hotel if they had kept it clean. The room I had was a double and it was quite roomy with a roomy bathroom and a big window allowing a good view of the city. This hotel was cleaner and newer than all the other hotels I stayed at in Taiwan but could still use some improvements. If you look closely you can see the layers of build up from not cleaning. Overtime, it would probably end up looking like the many other hotels in Taiwan. The plus point of the hotel is the location, right downtown across from the SOGO Department Store.

I keep coming back to Splendor in Taichung. I have stayed there twice a year for three years now. I have tried the Landis and the Evergreen but nothing beats Splendor. It is for sure the nicest hotel in Taichung. The rooms are spacious and clean with big bath tubs and separate showers, the breakfast is fantastic with great omelettes, the staff is always nice and welcoming. Also they have relaxing Spa and an outdoor pool on the rooftop. Only pool bar is missing... Also the location is good: you can hop on a airport bus to Taipei just next to the hotel and for shopping there's the Sogo department store just across the street!
