Great vacation, awesome place and helpful staff!
By Jet, 4/21/11
This is a time share resort so the rooms are more like mini apartments. I found them to be very nice with nice features. With the Grand Strand area it's hit or miss with the hotels. Any bad reviews here haven't stayed at some of those. This place is amazing considered to those...holy smokes This resort is further south which is a bother if you want to head to Myrtle Beach for some events but you're also out of the hustle and bustle of the traffic. So it's sort of a wash there. The staff is friendly, the resort is pretty quiet and the rooms are nice. This is a nice spot for families not wanting to be in the thick of things. We will be staying here again.

Would never go back
By debbiedcpc, 6/20/09
From outside the place looked nice. Room was not nice at all. Killed several bugs in room. bathtub dirty. Railing was loose on stairs. When went to sales promo I told the man I did not like the place and why his respons was. We put you up in "DUMP" so you will appreciate what owners get. Those where his actual words. The rooms they show you on the sales tour are nothing like the rooms they put you in. The pools are very small and crowded and the Hot Tub/ Jaccuci in Phase ! did not work was just hot water. Also nothing for teens to do in the area at all. Festiva resorts are not my idea of a nice vacation place

pleasantly pleased
By Julia G, 9/3/08
The negative reviews scared me,but we had a lovely condo. It was clean and spacious. Needed some paint, but with many people coming through even the priciest place would need it. The pool was nice, the staff friendly. My husband and son wanted to play golf around 5:00 PM. They were charged for the cart only. It is a nice course. Not sure why Ellington got such bad reviews. I guess some folks are hoity toity!

Coming back in 2009
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/19/08
We had a great vacation and want to come back next year. For me, the location is excellent...away from the rat race in Myrtle Beach. Its only 25 min south of Myrtle Beach attractions. Both of our two bedroom suites were ready as promised and clean. Staff was attentive, especially when two of our TV's were knocked out during a thunderstorm. They replaced within 24 hrs. (They had to replace 35 - 40 TV's that day). I liked having a pool outside of our building. They provided guests with a weeks pass to two state beaches which are beautiful. You can still go to the neighboring town beaches. Murrell's Inlet is a quiet place to vacation. Can't wait to come back next year.

Found no problems!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/5/08
We just spent two weeks here and I can honestly say I don't know what other reviewers found so wrong. I had read the reviews before I went and felt a bit worried about what I would find but on arrival the reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The unit was clean, tidy and welcoming - no bugs in sight. Yes, you could sometimes hear the t.v. on in the next unit but never enough to be a problem. The pool was fairly empty each day (apart from Memorial Weekend) and there were umbrella's available (also unbroken). Water was a bit chilly..... When we rang for more towels they were delivered within 10 minutes by a very friendly lady. Laundry room was excellent. Absolutely no problems and would certainly recommend it.

Satisfied Customer
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/1/07
We really enjoyed our stay at Ellington. The location is central to many things of interest. The unit was equipped with everything you could think of. If there was something we did not have or ran out of, the desk was very responsive to our needs. A weekly schedule of activities was available and we were able to buy tickets to shows at the office. The pool was clean and there were plenty of chairs. We will definitely visit again...

Don't be scared by the other reviews
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/19/07
It was beautiful and a GREAT value. It could be cleaner and yes, the 5 star is an overrating but these people need to get a life and just enjoy the scenery...which is beautiful. The golf is fantastic and we had a wonderful vacation. Moral of the story is--it's not as bad as the other reviewers say so go, and even more importantly, enjoy.

Extremely disappointed as this is not a 5-Star Resort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/07
I spoke to the front desk on Sunday (we checked in on Saturday) regarding multiple spiders and bugs in the room. They never came out to resolve or contacted me advising of a resolution. In addition, you have to run the air conditioning continuously to drown your neighbors discussions, but the noise from the air return is so loud that you can't sleep in the 2nd bedroom (the return is located outside of the 2nd bedroom). The Master Bath was extremely small (2 people could not be in this bathroom at the same time unless one stood in the shower). The whirlpool bath and shower head were dirty with pink fungus covering the shower head and the tub jets (needless to say we didn't use this shower). This was reported to the front desk; however, it was never cleaned. The 2nd bath is designed poorly. To access the shower or toilet, you must enter the door to the vanity area, move over to shut the door, enter the toilet/shower area, and lean into the shower or toilet area to shut the door. While this bath did have a double vanity, if someone was using the first vanity, you could not get to the 2nd to use it. The pool was to be stocked with pool towels; however, only once out of 8 visits to the pool, we were only able to obtain towels twice. The Consierge requested that we tour the resort and complete a survey for Interval as they were in a "probation-type" status to retain their 5-Star status. PLEASE REVOKE THIS STATUS!!! This was a disappointing vacation resort and we ended up checking out early.

This is what we got for our 5-STAR trade?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/10/07
We found the unit we received in trade for our unit at Mystic Dunes Wyndham Palms, in Orlando small, dark and noisy. We booked through Interval International, who rated the facility as 5-STAR. The location, across the street from a major hospital, provided no end of traffic noise and the more than the occassional siren during the night. Both alarm clocks, in the two bedroom unit, sounded around 4:00 am our first night. We can identify with the folks who experienced poor performance from the whirlpool. Ours never worked! We did receive, following a 2+ hour sales pitch, a brief tour of the new "VIP ELITE" facility open to "OWNERS". While we would have rated this as an acceptable trade, it too was small by our home properties standards. The sales pitch, advertised as a survey to assist with re-certification with Interval International, eventually revealed that the new owners, Festiva, considered the practice of booking Interval International customers into their oldest property, to be an Industry Wide practice and perfectly acceptable. Needless to say it was a NO SALE! Color us dissatisfied. Never again at Ellington Wachesaw Plantation East or at any other Festiva property!

disappointed owners
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/21/07
when we first purchased a week here we were impressed with resort. Since then we have purchased 3 other timeshares in and around myrtle beach and they are truly 5 star resorts. I sent my best frien there as a gift and he said the floor was dirty and there was burn holes in floor from an iron, the couch had holes in it, and the sound from the units nearby was very noisy. So i will send him to one of our other resorts next time. we have always had trouble getting the week we wanted as well as the size of unit. ( 5 people including 3 children in a 1 br unit = no fun) One time the unit did not have a drawer large enough for the silverware tray so it was kept under the sink, didn't seem very clean under there. to sum up we are trying to sell our week there, because everything we were told at purchase has not turned out to be true.
