Microtel Inns & Suites, Lake Charles

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PETS TO STAY THERE. THE PLACE IS VERY NASTY ON THE INSIDE. I HAD A TWO DAY RESERVATION, MORNING COULDN'T GET HERE FAST ENOUGH. WHEN I CHECKED OUT EARLY, YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT MANAGEMENT WOULD HAVE ASKED WHY, BUT SHE DIDN'T BECAUSE SHE PROBALY SAW THE DIGUST ON MY FACE. NEVER AGAIN. JUST MY OPINION I DON'T RECOMMEND ANYONE TO STAY AT THIS MICROTELL HOTEL.

We had reservations here for a state tennis tourney and when we found out they didn't accept pets we cancelled our reservation and put it in our friend's name and removed our credit card (debit card) info. So we thought. I turned into a huge nightmare and took me over a week to get it fixed! The incompetent hotel employees caused our account to over draw because they charged our account twice. I heard a bunch of excuses and no acceptance from the manager that she was accountable for her employees. Our friend said the hotel clerk made jokes about going shopping with is credit card when they failed to return it to him after check-in. Our friend's were suppose to have a mini queen suite and didn't even get a queen bed. They were fairly disappointed. They said it was the worst service they've ever had at a hotel. Will never stay there again. They have been reported to the BBB and I am reporting them to the Chamber in Lake Charles and also informing the USTA NOT to suggest them as a hotel for the state tourney next year. The owner is also quite a smuck. Making his employees cover the overdraft fees on our checking account instead of sucking it up and realizing he doesn't know how to hire quality help, or maybe can't at $7.25/hour. Poorly managed and run. I would suggest LaQuinta every time. Which is where we ended up staying because we always have excellent service and didn't mind driving a bit further after all to have the comfortable bed, great breakfast and excellent service. Plus, I earned points toward another free nights stay. Best hotel I've ever stayed in and they accept pets. Even better!!! Don't make the same mistake many other seem to have made by staying at this horrible hotel. I would be surpised if things turned out right when you make your reservation. BV - Slidell

WELL I LOVED MY STAY THERE IT WAS CLEAN AND NICE THE HOTEL BEDS WERE VERY HUGE AND SO WERE THE POOL THE STAFF WERE SO NICE AND THE FOOD WAS ROLLINLOL I DID NOT HAVE A DISLIKE I LOVED LOVED LOVED EVERYTHING IT WAS LOVELY WHAT I PAYED FOR WAS WORTH IT.

This has to be the worst place I have ever stayed in my life! The girls at the front desk were sooo sweet & nice & kept appologizing for how nasty the rooms were. We started out with a room. Well the bed was dirty! There was even hair all in it! Some kind of dark smeared something on the comfortor! The bed had to have just been made up and not put clean sheets. There was hair all over the bathroom floor! The carpet was so nasty & stained that I wouldn't let my kids take their shoes off. I told the girl at the desk and she gave us another room.... just as bad. I called other hotels trying to find a room, but none! So I just got clean sheets and made the bed up myself.... well the clean sheets had hairs all in them! They didn't have any comfortors?? When I took the old one off, there were 2 large yellow spots on it! I was so disgusted that I couldn't take it anymore! I found a room at the Holiday Inn Suites & this room is sooooo wonderful! It is soooo worth the $40 extra! I would have paid $400 at the L'Auberge, but there were no rooms... I will stay at the Holiday Inn Suites South every visit to Lake Charles. NEVER NEVER go to the Microtel Inn. Also, a man was at the front desk holding termites in his hand showing the girl. He said his room was infested with them! It seemed like a hangout for partying kids! I took pics of the filth and will post them as soon as I get home! I should have read the reviews and not booked because of the pics... :(

Cheap construction makes for noisy nights. Rude/imcompetent staff cause much frustration. Junk "breakfast" is less than worthless. Don't make this mistake, stay somewhere (anywhere) else.

I had a reservation to arrive late, confirmed with credit card, and facility staff assured me that this would be acceptable. When I arrived I was told they were overbooked and my reservation was cancelled. The clerk was rude and unhelpful. Previous reviews had noted difficulties with reservations which I did not heed, I will in the future.

I HAD RESERVATION TO STAY 07/31/09....UPON ARRIVAL THEY DID NOT HAVE MY 2BED NON-SMOKING ROOM! THEY DID PUT ME IN A SMOKING ROOM WHICH SMELLED LIKE AN ASHTRAY! THE MANAGER WILL NOT RETURN MY CALLS AND THE STAFF THERE AT THE HOTEL WERE CLUELESS AND UN-PROFESSIONAL. DEFINITELY WILL NOT GO THERE AGAIN, AND WILL NOT SEND ANY OF MY CLIENTS TO STAY THERE AS WELL.

I made a reservation and when I arrived at the hotel to check in they did not have my correct reservation date. They charged me 2 nights for a hotel room that I only stayed in one night. They gave me a Smoking Room when reservation was made it was for Non Smoking Room. My little girl and I could not take the smoke but the City was SOLD OUT and we had no other place to go. They offered to give us Lysol to spray our room. They could not offer us any discounts or did not try to comp us in anyway. The Manger is very rude and she defintely is not Manager material. The staff did not try to compensate in anyway. The hotel does not offer Soap, Shampoo or anything very bare. If this is a new hotel I would hate to see what a NEW hotel looks like. I would not recommend this place to anyone.....

Location, location, location, close to Prien Lake Mall and all the restaurants, clean comfortable rooms, kids enjoyed swimming pool and friendly stuff helped us with all ours needs.

If you're not looking for bells & whistles, this hotel will suffice. Personally, I was a little uncomfortable there. I would recommend the Best Suites downtown to get more bang for your buck. I found the staff was lacking in experience, but overall they were friendly. Eventually I was checked in & got to my room, which was adequate but a little cramped. I thought complimentary wifi was included, but I may have been mistaken. I'm not sure if the signal I eventually found (which was almost non-existent) was for the hotel because of the network's unintelligible name, but I used it. I wouldn't rely on it; I lost connection due to poor reception so often that I eventually gave up. Street traffic was a bit noisy, so if you're going, bring earplugs just in case. I also saw a HUGE roach in the room but lost it trying to find something with which to kill it. Not too happy about that, either. This hotel is close to many things, which makes it very convenient to get places quickly. There is also a complimentary continental breakfast, which I did not stay for, so I couldn't tell you how it was. I brought my own food & stored it in the little fridge in my room. Like I said, adequate, but I like a little more for what I paid.
