Expensive hotel that nickels and dimes you...

I would never stay here again. It is out in the boondocks, too far to walk to anything. They do have a beautiful location with lovely pools. Our room cost $279 a night. For that we got:
1. An okay room (just okay), on the ocean. It was a regular standard room; the only thing really recommending it was the view. However, the carpet in our room was FILTHY. We felt uncomfortable walking around in bare feet in HAWAII!
2. For $279 a day, they gave us the little Mr. Coffee type coffee maker with cardboard coffee cups plus the chintzy package of coffee condiments…dry creamer, a plastic stir stick, cheap-o napkin…the type of thing you would expect at a Motel 6.
3. “Real coffee” from the snack bar was $4.50 a cup. Shocking!
4. $16 for 3 beers during so-called “Happy Hour” at the hotel bar. RIP OFF.
5. PARKING…$9 a day for self park; $16 for valet. But…there is nowhere else to park. You’re miles away from civilization. Why would they charge $9 for self parking when they have an empty parking lot???
6. The cable TV was crap! Most stations were just advertisements for Sheraton, only a few were normal stations. Plus our remote control only worked intermittently. But we were too disgusted at this point to even call to complain.
6. Internet access (SUPER SLOW) was $12.95 per day. In the last year, the only other place I’ve had to pay for internet access was a $60 a night older hotel on the Oregon Coast.
I travel a lot for business, so I’ve stayed at hotels all over the U.S. In the lower end hotels I EXPECT to be charged for various amenities, but at a high end resort, it’s just plain insulting. This hotel gave me no reason whatsoever to want to come back; much less ever stay at another Sheraton. Save your money and stay somewhere (ANYWHERE) else. Starwood/Sheraton Corporation…you should be ashamed and embarrassed.
