Great Resort
By Chris, 11/24/11
Stayed here 4 nights while visiting the Big Island for the first time. Had a great experience and will stay here again next time we are in the area. Room was clean. Pool and waterslide were awesome although it seemed odd that for as large of a pool, the water never semed to be deeper than 4 feet. The Manta Ray lounge had great drinks and at night you can watch the manta rays swimming in the water below. The grounds of the hotel are lit with tiki torches at night which provides for some nice walks back to your room. There is a nightly resort fee that is not included in your prepaid reservation so be prepared for that but it includes several amenaties such as parking, wi-fi and a couple of drinks in the lounge. Location of the resort made it easy to get in and out. Kailua-Kona is only 10-15 mins away. The hotel offered a free shuttle to a lot of the spots in town but I definitely recommend renting a car for any visit to the island.

The one and only time I will stay at a Sheraton!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/11
My wife and I had the misfortune of staying for a week in the Sheraton Keauhou during July 2011. I had never stayed at a Sheraton facility prior to this visit and will never again book at any Sheraton location. I can summarize my experience in the following bullets; 1. ANTS! - Within hours of checking in; we had to request to change rooms because there were ants present. We changed rooms and later discovered a cockroach in the second room. 2. Overcharging - I was quoted a nighty rate over the phone but upon checking out I was charged $20 more per night than quoted. It wasn't until I raised heck at the front desk was the issue resolved. 3. Un-Courteous staff - In each of the instances above the staff never apologized for the inconvenience. They acted as if I was being unreasonable. The entire week was filled with people who seemed to have a chip on their shoulder. I could continue to list specific issue after issue surrounding this hotel but PLEASE take my word for it. DO NOT STAY AT "Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa"

Wonderful experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/21/10
The Big Island was our 2nd stop while island hopping, our first trip to Hawaii. Our travel agent booked this hotel. The entire experience at the Sheraton Keahou Bay was awesome. The service all around was excellent, everyone was friendly and helpful. The resort property was beautiful. Our room was large, clean and well appointed. We upgraded to an ocean front room, ended up overlooking the manta ray viewing area. Every night we watched those beautiful rays from our balcony, absolutely amazing. Our package included a delicious breakfast buffet. We made arrangements for Dining Under the Stars to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary, we recommend this experience to everyone. Hotel location was perfect, close to Kailua-Kona and coffee plantations, easy day trip to sights on the West side of the Island and Volanoes Park. Plenty of close parking available, so self-parking was convenient and still cheaper than valet. Just wish we had more time to spend there. If we ever get back to the Big Island, we would definitely stay at the Sheraton Keahou.

BREATHTAKING PARADISE!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/09
My boyfriend and I were here for 11 nights, and I wish we were there for more! The staff was very friendly and always willing to help. The resort grounds were amazing and we never tired walking them over and over. The manta ray viewing at night was awesome :) We attended the firenesia luau which is a recomendation and well worth the money!! The swimming pools were great, the children there seemed to really enjoy the waterslide! The free shuttle was very helpful and appreciated to get into town for groceries etc, but if you wanted to explore the beautiful island I would recommend renting a vehicle. We will most definatley be returning to this resort!! Hopefully sooner than later! I can not wait! Mahalo!

Heaven On Earth!
By dyingtwo, 7/16/09
My husband and went here for our honeymoon. 7days and 6 nights We really really enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had the ocean and mountain view. There was nothing more beautiful. The on site resturants where great The free shuttle takes you down town and back if you need it .We where able to rent a car for a few days which gave us time to explore the island. Our flight was not leaving out until 11:00 p.m and check out was at 12 noon. we did not want to spend the whole day at the airport, but the hotel allowed us to check out at 9 p.m . The downside is that the hotel is kind of far from the airport there is no free shuttle to take you to and from the airport which is Needed. Needless to say we had a wonderful time and will be return next year. Maybe even take our kids.

Stay away till renovation happens...if ever.
By Shawn, 3/27/09
The location of the hotel is great, the employees were friendly and efficent. However they did not have much to work with. The pool looked nice, but the whole hotel needs a facelift. It could be a very beautiful spot. Rooms - The rooms plain and simple were poor. To me our room smells like my grandparents old camper. To my girlfriend, it smelled like a smokers room, even though the rooms was nonsmoking. The bathroom tile looked like it had been there forever and the caulking was black, the tub had a yellow ring around it and the toilet was an industrial size toliet, something you would not expect in a supposedly 4 star hotel. The wall in the bathroom need the edge or the door had bubbling paint. The closet had chipping paint and seemed to be a 70s style metal closet. The sliding glass door was pathetic. Instead of fixing the locking mechanise they attached a thumbscrew to the frame. and drilled a hole into the fram and the door. When you closed to door you had to use the thumb screw to lock it. This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel! Most hotels have their guest services book in a nice leather binder. Did the Sheraton.....nope....Photocopied paper with a staple in it on your desk. I have stayed in $75 hotels that were better quality than this place. If I had stayed more than one night in this place I Would hve been extreamly mad about the quality of the hotel. Stay away from this place, there are much better places to stay. If they ever decide to renvoated this place it has the potential to be an excellent hotel. It has a great location and view, just sub par rooms and in need of a exterior facelift.

Absolutely Breath-Taking!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/28/09
When we first arrived last Summer in 2008, I could'nt believe I was staying here. The lobby was absolutely gourgous!! The room was fresh, new, and very clean! They had many swimming pools that were so fun to swim in. The Manta Rays were amazing! You could see their whole bodies, fins, tail, mouth...ect. I would definately stay here again!!

Expensive hotel that nickels and dimes you...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/12/08
I would never stay here again. It is out in the boondocks, too far to walk to anything. They do have a beautiful location with lovely pools. Our room cost $279 a night. For that we got: 1. An okay room (just okay), on the ocean. It was a regular standard room; the only thing really recommending it was the view. However, the carpet in our room was FILTHY. We felt uncomfortable walking around in bare feet in HAWAII! 2. For $279 a day, they gave us the little Mr. Coffee type coffee maker with cardboard coffee cups plus the chintzy package of coffee condiments…dry creamer, a plastic stir stick, cheap-o napkin…the type of thing you would expect at a Motel 6. 3. “Real coffee” from the snack bar was $4.50 a cup. Shocking! 4. $16 for 3 beers during so-called “Happy Hour” at the hotel bar. RIP OFF. 5. PARKING…$9 a day for self park; $16 for valet. But…there is nowhere else to park. You’re miles away from civilization. Why would they charge $9 for self parking when they have an empty parking lot??? 6. The cable TV was crap! Most stations were just advertisements for Sheraton, only a few were normal stations. Plus our remote control only worked intermittently. But we were too disgusted at this point to even call to complain. 6. Internet access (SUPER SLOW) was $12.95 per day. In the last year, the only other place I’ve had to pay for internet access was a $60 a night older hotel on the Oregon Coast. I travel a lot for business, so I’ve stayed at hotels all over the U.S. In the lower end hotels I EXPECT to be charged for various amenities, but at a high end resort, it’s just plain insulting. This hotel gave me no reason whatsoever to want to come back; much less ever stay at another Sheraton. Save your money and stay somewhere (ANYWHERE) else. Starwood/Sheraton Corporation…you should be ashamed and embarrassed.

Unsafe at any speed!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/20/08
This property is like an old Corvair! First, it's situated on the bluff of a cliff over the ocean. Locals were jumping off and my kids wanted to do the same. Then my five years old ran into the unmarked glass patio door and when the security guard came to help he siad we were lucky it didn't break because they aren't safety glass. It seems that the old glass was "grandfathered" in when the palce was renovated and guest safety took a back seat.
