Jaypee Palace Hotel, Agra

We booked this hotel on-line through Savion Travel Services who charged our account instantly after the booking was being made. Unfortunately our Qantas flight was delayed by 24 hrs and consequently we requested to postpone our booking for 1 night. This was not possible! We ended up in a very unpleasant caught-up-in-the-middle situation, where the agent blamed the hotel and the hotel blamed the agent for charging us the full prepaid amount as a cancellation fee. After approxiamately 10 phone calls from the agent, mainly to talk us into a new booking, we never found out who was to blame for this inflexibility, lost our money, had to find a new hotel and waisted hours with people who came across as pushy and dishonest. A very unpleasant experience!

Good service, excellent food! This place is very big. Kinda got lost inside at my first day. Loved the garden in the middle of the rooms. Internet was kinda expensive though. :(

Overall, this hotel is pretty good, except for the staff. We had issues with them when we had pre paid for extra beds (via our tour company) and when we went for our checkout, the staff charged us for the beds!! They did not want to honor our tour company's payment and demanded that we pay (again). This is the most ridiculous this I have ever seen. Even a manager was not available to help resolve the situation. What did we do? We just paid and left and it was not worth arguing with these guys. The checkout staff is the worst and the beds are HORRIBLE. They are as hard as a rock. After our previous nights at the Intercont in New Delhi, this place was the pits, considering that it is a "Five Star" hotel. What a joke.
