An expats view
By Mike, 7/29/08
I live near the Sheraton, and while I don't use the rooms, I do use the facilities. The positives: -- good landscaping gives it a quiet feel in this otherwise sometimes hectic town -- "Nutz bar" the hotel bar is open later than almost everywhere in town -- lobby staff are always extremely friendly and helpful, to guests and non guests Negatives -- it is a 10 - 15 minute taxi ride to the center of town (personally, I like the neighborhood) -- as an earlier review said, gym staff must be half deaf as they not only blast music so loud that no other conversations can be heard, but the volume of their aerobics teachers has chased most foreigners out of the gym. And we're used to a lot of noise!

No repeat business from me
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/24/08
I had an on balance average stay at the Sheraton Hanoi with one glaring exception – I know this may not be how most people rate a hotel, but the gym was horrendously managed. Its a tight space to begin with and the gym was holding an aerobics class at such full volume it actually hurt my ears. My ears were ringing as if I’d been at a rock concert. I mentioned something to the staff at reception who just smiled absently and I left quickly. I tried again later in my trip, and the same thing happened. Other customers in the gym told me they’d previously complained to the gym manager as they’d also experienced ringing in their ears after staying in the gym while a class was going on. A Vietnamese woman told me the manager just shrugged her off the last time she mentioned it and said he only cared about his rich Vietnamese clients. I’m surprised that an international hotel chain like the Sheraton has gym staff who are more concerned about soliciting outside customers than taking care of its guests. While abrupt gym staff wouldn’t turn some people off a hotel, it did me. A woman who lived in Hanoi said she’d asked the manager several times to turn down the music as even for Hanoi it was excessive

I enjoyed my stay here
By Suzie, 5/25/08
I was here for a three-day conference. I stayed in a standard room with two queen-sized beds. I loved that the hotel responded to my questions (via e-mail) about the gym facility within two hours. I managed to catch my favourite show American Idol while I was there in my room and while working out in the gym. I think I was there during "Idol Gives Back" week. This is a big deal for me because not all 5-star hotels have Starworld of Fox channel. The hotel has a nice pool and quite a complete gym. Another highlight was the fact that I got two ginger chocolates delivered to my room every evening in this nice little package. The service is friendly. I loved the buffet breakfast, too. I think my stay would have been better if the hotel provided free Internet access in the rooms :) Guests should know that the hotel is not within walking distance to shopping areas, so you have to take public transport to town. But if you exercise regularly and you like to workout outside, this hotel is perfect for you because you can walk or run around a nearby lake with early rising-locals accompanying you.

A wonderful stay
By Denny, 9/20/07
We like the spaciousness of the hotel and the warm and friendly staff. Very nice to start the day tour and to retire for the night after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel lobby and surrounding are spacious and so are the rooms and the bathrooms. Very pleasant and helpful staff at the lobby, dining place and the concierge and reception. The breakfast and buffet dinner had good spread and enjoyable. The morning stroll at the nearby lake encountered very friendly residents who were either drinking tea or fishing. It also has an ample gym, secluded pool and tennis courts. Easy to get a cab to/from hotel, and besides the hotel provides bus service(thrice) to/fro town.

Sheraton, make you healthier
By HH, 11/10/06
I live next to this beautiful hotel, both this hotel and my house face to a biggest lake in Hanoi, West lake. We got the best climate from this lake, we can breath and even smell the pure of nature here. I come to this hotel several times for meeting, it combines the modern with the tradition of Vietnam. It's rooms very special design and also special name. It has big park outside as well as beautiful landscape. However the road to reach it is not so big, but every road near the West lake are small like this. Anyway, it's enough for more than 2 lanes of cars. Hope you come there and enjoin the nature of Westlake and the tradition of Hanoi.

Sheraton Hanoi Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/06
Situated on the picturesque shore of Hanoi's largest lake, the Sheraton Hanoi Hotel is only 15 minutes from the city center and 25 minutes from the airport. This prime position offers the peaceful solitude of the lush gardens, sweeping lawns, and tranquil courtyards whilst having the convenience, bustle, and excitement of downtown Hanoi only minutes away. Our spacious guest rooms offer a touch of luxury in which to relax, with high ceilings and large windows offering spectacular views of the West Lake.

A nice place to stay!
By Cappu, 3/26/06
Mr. Loc and I had buffet there for several times, spended the night in the Hotel's Pub. I know this hotel quite clearly by collecting information about this hotel for the company website. An excellent place, with the best service, clean, located right beside Westlake. Generally, it's the most ideal hotel travellers can stay in Hanoi.

Hotel facing Serene Lake
I had stayed in Sheraton twice and last visit was July 2005. The hotel is located next to Ho Tay (West Lake). Every morning when I draw the curtain, the scenery was so serene. I like the hotel because it was away from the heavy and noisy traffics. It is not near downtown but taxi is available at all time. The gym center was great, although not many machine but very decent.
