Disappointed
By andre st pierre 45, 12/29/08
Not what we expected. Rooms had a worn dated feel, Staff ranged from very nice to incredibly unprofessional. Over-priced for the quality of the rooms. If you want to stray from the cookie cutter chain hotel experience, my advice is to pay a few bucks extra and stay at one of the more historic hotels in Boston.

Fantastic Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/07
If your going to the Garden and want to spend the night. STAY AT THE ONYX!!!! Freindly, Comfortable, Willing to Please, and close to everything. Yes, a little pricey, but worth every penny.... Hey, stay at Ho Jo's if you want cheap. If you want style, stay at the Onyx.... (I like that, maybe that should be there new slogan.)

We'll be seeing you again Onyx Boston! :)
By She-la-la-la, 11/19/07
I cannot say enough about the Onyx Hotel in Boston. I booked the hotel a few nights before the Dane Cook show on a whim and they still had rooms available and at a decent rate. I have never felt more taken care of at a hotel ever. Check in was easy, the valet parking is a little steep but worth it. We asked for a cab and we got a house town car that the hotel provides at the same rate as a city taxi. The rooms were very clean, nice marble floors in the bathrooms and very comfy linens. I slept wonderfully and even though we had a room right on the street, it was very quiet and cozy. I would recommend this hotel to any mid 20's to early 30's couple. If you are in your early 20's, the price of one night in a king bed room may sway you, but believe me, it is sooooooo worth it! :)

To Die For!!! Don't hesitate on booking!
By Greg, 05/07/07
I can't even tell you how great this hotel is! When we checked in, the gentleman checking us in (Michael) found out it was our honeymoon and quickly grabbed us a bottle of wine to take up with us to our room. We had booked a penthouse suite ($250 a night!) on the 11th floor. As soon as we got to the room there was a knock at the door. It was Michael, the same person that had checked us in, and he had noticed that we forgot to book the "Parlor" room attachment to our room, and let us know that The Onyx would be giving us this room for free for the next three nights of our stay! In total, the room was probably 800 sq. ft. with two bathrooms, two TV's, surround sound system, and this awesome checkered carpet. Things only got better when we went to the Ruby Lounge and chatted with our favorite bartender (Steve) that gave us our drinks for free and congratulated us on our honey moon. I can not recommend this hotel enough! If all Kimpton hotels are as good as the Onyx, they have definetly made a customer for life out of me! Thanks again to Michael and Steve for the incredible service and royal treatment! You guys rock! Greg Goforth

I LOVE the presentation on the site.
By Dexter T, 02/23/07
The Onyx Hotel has EVERYTHING for a couple, kids, and more. This special hotel was designed and inspired from the Britney Spears' Tour "The Onyx Hotel". Ideally located in downtown Boston, the Onyx Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel, adds a touch of modern elegance to its historic neighborhood, an area that is central to both the past, present and future of Boston. Just four blocks from the markets of Faneuil Hall, the Onyx Hotel offers easy access to landmarks like Bunker Hill, new and old state buildings, and other historic landmarks. Walk through history on the Freedom Trail and see the places where the citizens of Boston assembled, planned the Boston Tea Party, and posted alerts using the beacon of the Old North Church. Our Boston luxury hotel is also just a block from the much-anticipated parks and serene open space of the Rose Kennedy Greenway. According to the Boston Metropolitan Transit Authority, the planned "North End Park," part of the greenway system, will be a "significant 'hinge' point between the grand civic spaces of downtown and the intimacy of Boston's oldest neighborhood." The central location of our boutique Onyx Hotel puts guests just one block from the Boston TD Banknorth Garden (Fleet Center), Boston's premiere sports and entertainment venue, and home of the Boston Bruins and Celtics. Formerly known as the "Fleet Center," TD Banknorth Garden was renamed in honor of the original Boston Garden.

Staying there again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/22/07
The Onyx has the personality, features, and luxury of its much more expensive sibling the 9Zero Hotel - which I also love. Its all about the BED, and this place has among the best anywhere. Staff are outstanding from the front desk to the valet car parker. The location is a little off the track for me, but Boston is a small town (sorry, too much time in NYC) so everything is relatively nearby. The gym is minimal - need to hook up with a more full service provider. Love it.

Trendy and hip.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/06
I stayed there for a couple of days while I had meetings in the very nearby Federal Courthouse and Federal Office Building. Location wise, it was convenient for my work, and was also very near the North End and other shopping/dining areas in Boston. The rooms are very small. The bed in my room was huge, and almost took up too much space in the room. The decor was amazing with everything coordinated to set a great mood (I loved the leopard print on the bath robe). The free wireless intenet access was nice , but they do not have a business center and their fitness room is tiny. I would definitely go there again, just not for business. There is just not enough space or amenities that business travelers need.

Would definitely stay again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/19/06
I stayed at this hotel for an event at the TD Banknorth Garden. The hotel practically right across from the Garden. The bed was AWESOME, like sleeping in clouds! There were some yellow stains on one of our towels and the hotel is not sound proof so you could hear traffic on the street below. The rooms are small but cozy and great if you're only staying a night or two. For the price it was great. If you are seeing something at the Garden definitely stay here!

Such nice rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/28/05
We loved the rooms- big soft beds, free internet access, all the amenities. The staff is very friendly. They offer free car to the financial district in the mornings, otherwise you can walk about 1 block to the North Station on the T. It is pretty quick to spots such as government crossing or Coply, but the hotel is not in a "happening" area. there are mostly pubs and convenience store nearby, as well as Fleet Center. They have room service, but there is no dining on site- only wine tasting in the evening and cont breakfast in the morning is quite $$. Very nice value though, for a plush room. Other than the

You could do worse...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/05
The rooms are small, but nicely furnished. When I say small, I mean small. The photos make the room look bigger than it is. The bed was very comfortable but took up 3 quarters of the room. The bathroom was elegant, but again... small. The water pressure was ok, but certainly not great. Maid service was exceptional. The best thing about this hotel was its location... you're only about a block and a half from the North Station of the T. Parking fees were $32/day. I'm not sure if this is high for Boston, but most places I've stayed are closer to $20. If you don't plan on spending much time in your hotel room, this is a fine place to stay. If you're going on business and need to work from your room, I would suggest somewhere a little less cramped.
