It is a Total Disaster
we booked a royal villa for the new years break. the hotel had advertised as if they were 5 star like a four seasons type resort. the hotel was a total disaster. any reviews that say anything else were planted by hotel employees.
upon arrival they couldnt even find a key to our villa. in the two days we spent there before we just left, they were never even able to give us a key. after waiting an hour just to get into our room - they needed to find a master key - we arrived to find the room dirty. it seemed that no one had been in our villa for over a month. the phones didnt work (and couldnt be fixed), the hot water didnt work, the safe didnt work, the airconditioning could only cool the room to 75 degrees, the private pool filter did not work, etc. the hotel was built so poorly that there wasnt even an electrical outlet in the bathroom for a hairdryer or a mirror.
on the first night, they moved us to another room. at least the phone and the safe worked in that one but all the other issues were still present - minimal hot water, minimal air conditioning, dirty pool, etc. it seems that this hotel was built shoddy and although less than a year old was already falling apart.
there was effectively no gym since it hadnt been built yet and the pool area was a disaster. it was almost impossible to get a drink since they had run out of everything.
we stay at only the best hotels - sandy lane, four seasons nevis, four seasons punta mita, las ventanas, etc. this hotel still needs another $50mm of infrastructure to finish it off. then, it needs some real staff training and management. they had no idea how to run a high end hotel.
no matter what the price or what you read, stay away from this place
