Not Bad.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/09/08
My boyfriend and I decided to spend a long weekend in Maine to enjoy some kayaking, the breathtaking views, and of course, some fresh caught lobster. We chose this inn because it boasted a luxurious facility with breathtaking views. Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us a tour, told us about the "self-serve" bar and then let us into our room even though we had arrived hours before check-in time. I was disappointed to find that the pool was closed for our first day there, but still we enjoyed the large beach chairs and the truly gorgeous views. We took advantage of the free continental breakfast each morning, which went far beyond a typical continental breakfast offering fresh fruit, pastries, breads, cereals and eggs. The only disappointment here was the orange juice from concentrate which tasted a bit like rusty water. Still, our overall experience at the inn was enjoyable and satisfying.

We'll be back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/08
My husband and I had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Inn at Ocean's edge. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were very good with excellent coffee. We especially enjoyed sitting out by the pool overlooking the ocean and reading a book. Although we did not have dinner at The Edge we did enjoy a coctail and appetizer before going into town for dinner. We also took advantage of the computer with internet access in the library downstairs. The only minor dissapointment was that after dinner when we returned there was no one in the bar in the main inn to get an after dinner drink. We would certainly recommend it and plan to return.

poor value

This is a copy of a letter I wrote to the inn that was never answered, My wife and I just returned from a six night stay at the Ocean’s Edge. We could not have been more disappointed by our visit. Advertised as a luxurious experience it was certainly not. We arrived and found our room still not ready at 3:00 PM - a housekeeping error. Our room was clean but was usually missing something i.e. a new soap bar – we got one ourselves or a floor towel for the shower. I have gotten more tasty breakfasts at business motels and being a physician much better breakfasts in the hospital cafeteria. I did not know that there was an option to have eggs until the third day and on the first day at breakfast no one introduced themselves or even told us about the hot dish for over twenty minutes and in fact except for Sue on the weekend no one ever said good morning and even remotely were friendly. I would say distant and unconcerned. The breakfasts seemed pre packaged and were bland, the breads and pastries store bought and nothing was very fresh. The cooked breakfast was horrible. It was the worst French toast I have ever had, and peaches in heavy syrup is not a peach topping. The afternoon snacks were greasy cookies of less quality than at Sam’s. We were anxious to have dinner at the edge and made our reservations two days in advance only to find out less than one hour before our reservation that it was made for the previous night and therefore there was no room for us that evening. Another night we went out to the outdoor fireplace to make some smores - there was no fire. The night time front desk person was minimally helpful he gave us a newspaper and begged the valet to get us some wood and matches – we started our own fire even without any kindling. The ashtray in front of our building was not emptied for two days and greeted us with foul smelling cigars. I could go on and on but needless to say we will not be back to this inn or any of its sister properties nor recommend it to any of our friends. We are very seasoned travelers and have been to many bed and breakfasts and by far this one was the least value of all.

We never wanted to leave!

First and foremost the staff was amazing! They truly make you feel welcomed from the moment you set foot into this breathtaking Inn. The rooms are spacious and beautiful with panoramic views of the ocean and luscious gardens. My husband and I spent our 1-year anniversary here and look forward to returning every year, although were locals, this place seems like worlds away.

Modern Convenience B&B Style
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/10/04
Walking into the Inn is like stepping into a new home that has been carefully and beautifully designed to capture the coastal victorian era. Soft music and the smell of baking float through the air. The property is beautiful and it is a short drive from the town of Camden. If you are looking to stay in the town and walk to places, this is not the place for you.
