Holiday Inn Express South, Las Vegas

The Bellagio and the Wynn tend to get a lot of the hype, but this remains a great place to stay for a couple of reasons - a great central-Strip location, cool shows, a nice pool, and a pretty darn good looking girl

I stayed here for five nights and I received better hospitality service than if I were to stay at a higher priced hotel. The staff were amazing! They catered to my needs and every one of them were kind and courteous. Location of the hotel was critical to my stay because I was having a conference at Mandalay Bay. The FREE shuttle service (every half an hour, to and from the convention) was extremely convenient. I highly recommend staying at the Holiday Inn Express. I know I will stay here the next time I come to Las Vegas.

The location was great. Off strip but close enough with shuttle service. Breakfast was awesome. The beds were comfy, clean sheets. Our room was more than we expected, had fridge and microwave. I would definitely stay here again.

It's really clean and comfortable. The beds are soft, and the linens are extremely clean. The staffs are very friendly. The best part-- complimentary breakfast.

The Holiday Inn Express is in a very good location, away from all the noise, yet close enough to see the strip hotels. Shuttle to the strip runs every 30 minutes with a very informative driver! Let them know ahead of time and they can arrange a pick up to and from the airport! The pool is on the east side of the hotel, so you can eat their free breakfast, go lay out, swim, by the time shadow starts to cover the pool area, you know its time to get ready to go out! I had a great time. Thanks!

Hotel is further off the strip than I anticipated but in the same respect it does make it quiet. Easy to get to and they do have a shuttle but it stops at 11pm. (who stops gambling in Vegas at 11?)But..The service was outstanding! Courtesy call to make sure our room was ok and even came twice to unclog our toilet thanks to my husband...Our room was pretty average compared to a few others I saw there some with micro/fridges (would have been nice). The view was good especially at night when all is lit up! Direct view over to the Rio! Breakfast was much more than expected, from cereal to bagels to hard boiled eggs...very good! All in all we had a good stay but for the price I would have expected a little more (like the micro/fridge). Loved the soft towels and the curved shower rod.

Hotel is very clean and new looking. It's located next to four other similar hotels (Courtyard by Marriott and others), and all of these hotels use the same shuttle bus service. They come to the front door of the hotel every half hour on the half hour. Other reviews said that they take you to Mandalay Bay as well as Caesar's and Bellagio, but when I was there in September of 2006 the only stop was Mandalay Bay. But that is still very convenient as you can take the monorail from there to the Luxor and then walk to other locations or go across the street to MGM Grand and get on the Las Vegas Monorail which serves almost the entire Strip. As noted in another review, they still have not done anything to fix the keycard problem for the door that leads out to the pool. My room key worked fine for my room, but it did not work on the door to let me back inside when coming from the pool. I got a new keycard at the front desk, and it also did not work. I didn't bother trying again since I knew it probably would not solve anything. The hotel is a great place to stay and a great value. Free breakfast every morning, free high speed internet, and free shuttle to Mandalay Bay. It's very nice to be in a location that is not on the Strip so that you can come and go as you please if you have a car, and go to a non-casino restaurant somewhere in town and not pay as much.

Fellow travellers, some things you want to know about this one: Very clean and nice but the hotel is so new, I hope the staff will be able to properly maintain it. Two examples of that: 1) Coded cards they give for the pool gate and the rooms had to be redone for me 5 times in 24 hours. Staff seemed to know this was a nagging problem but do not apologize or seem to care enough to fix root cause. 2) The two front desk clerks speak English; no one else does. Get me? The maids think absolutely nothing of sitting in the stairwells during the day talking on their cell phones in Spanish, not making room for you to get past. They do not look at you or care. 3) The entrace to the parking lot is a construction zone and very dirty.

I really enjoyed my stay at the HIE. The room was nicely appointed and equipped with an electronic thermostat to adjust your comfort level. Which if any have traveled knows is a complete 180 from the control knob on the ac unit under the window everywhere else. The staff was wonderful and the location is awesome. You are off the strip, but close enough to it to be a part of any activities whenever you want to. Finally the breakfast was the crown jewel of my stay. I was expecting juice and donuts not waffles, bagels, yogurt, cereal (5 to choose from), muffins, raisins and a newspaper. I will stay here again and recommend this hotel for the savvy traveler to the first time visitor to Vegas.

No AC in the bathrooms, help seems a littlt over worked {trying the best they can} NEVER enought TOWELS!!! .... But beds were so comfortable and the staff super NICE!!!
