I spent a night before an afternoon flight, and found it perfectly okay in all respects. Room was small...bathroom really small...but adequate and clean. Airport pickup really is every 15 minutes, and drivers are quite helpful. Internet reservation honored perfectly, including the rate promised. Total after taxes actually LESS than quoted over internet! Breakfast buffet pretty good, though not the best I have had in China. Gift shop better stocked than many, though prices higher than at airport. And the free high speed internet does not exist....cost is 3 yuan per minute for cable access, so it adds up fast. Location, however, almost useless for anything other than a stop before or after a flight, since the rest of Shanghai is more than 30 km away. One can, however, take the airport MAGLEV train (430 kph) to a metro stop and then take that the rest of the way. Hotel shuttle doesn't mind taking you to the airport and back for this purpose...many guests (and local people) do it just for fun! Someone leaving China after a lengthy visit, OR arriving after a long flight, will likely find it easy to reach and comforting in its atmosphere.
