Horrible Experience - OurGuest Inn & Suites
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/08
We were at the mercy of this hotel, traveling on a busy weekend during the Christmas in July weekend. We asked for a Non-Smoking room and clearly got a room that reeked of cigarette smell. The staff brought us a can of Oust that did nothing to mask the smell. They went onto say the room was non-smoking, which was hard to believe with the cigarette burns on the bathtub. To make matters worse after pulling back the sheets, the king size pillow was in a standard size pillowcase showing a number of foul stains and the sheets had hair on them. Thinking we dropped something behind the dresser, we went to retrieve it to be met with filth and debris that were difficult to stomach. The wireless internet connection dropped every 10 minutes and unforturately was needed due to this being a working weekend for my boyfriend. He called the front desk and they said they didn't know who to call and couldn't wake the manager. The ice machine was broke, no sign.... no anything. I got a blanket out of my vehicle and slept in our clothes. We took the pillow down to the front desk and the manager looked at it and put it aside and said nothing, just shook her head. The staff's reaction wasn't an apology, they did nothing. They said we could stay somewhere else, knowing full well the bookings for this weekend. That there wasn't someplace else to stay. They didn't offer to find us a room, they didn't offer to refund our money. They would give the name of the person who was to call us back. They did nothing except double the normal rates for this busy weekend for a less than sub-par hotel. The manager said they get alot of repeat business I can tell you it will never be us again and hopefully after our expereince won't be you either.

off season retreat!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/30/07
Last week (Oct) we were at Port Clinton for the 1st time. We did not have reservations & arrived in town around 9 PM. We tried to get a room at 2 other Hotels (1 was booked, 1 was dirty) before we pulled up here. We were pleasantly surprised to find an opening with the great off season price of $39 weekend night & $29 weekday. We thought there would be something wrong with the rooms at this price, so we asked to check out room before committing. Well to make a long story short, our 1 night stay turned into a 4 night, 5 day stay!!! We loved the friendly staff and the quite atmosphere. We were able to walk in the evenings at the Lake across street, walk to Jet Express to Islands, & the resteraunt next door is wonderful (which we rec a discount at for staying here. We highly recommend a stay here in the off season of October, no crowds and excellent service!!!Did not need the pool so no problem there, but it did look small, but use the Lake for swimming!! We were even given discount coupon for Jet Express.

Clean and comfortable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/22/05
Unlike the other review posted, our group only had 3 guys to a room (we had 4 rooms total) which made the stay very comfortable. I did not notice anything negative in terms of cleaniness at the hotel, actually quite the opposite, I found our rooms and the overall "common" areas of the hotel to be quite clean. Granted, the pool is only 4 foot deep, but that should be all you need to cool off in. If you want to do cannon balls, head somewhere else. Conveniently located to the Jet Express for island exploring. Good coffee in the morning.

DON'T BE MISLED BY THE NAME!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/04
This hotel needs to seriously consider changing its name! Having stayed in suites at most major hotel chains, I’m used to a rather cavernous room with plenty on room to stretch out and relax. When I called and was told that their suite could “comfortably sleep 6 people,” this is pretty much what I expected. When we all walked in, we had to go back down to the front desk to make sure they put us in the right room! The “suite” they put us in was about the size of your average Motel 6 room with a very small front room that had a pull-out couch. The beds were so jam-packed into the room, that with all 6 people in the room, we were absolutely on top of each other and could barely move! I was told by the manager that “we don’t have ‘suites’ as such – I don’t know who led you to believe that.” How about your SIGN, idiot!! On top of this, the room was not very clean with cobwebs over the lampshades that looked like they might have last been dusted some time in the late 90s. The pool is located next to the major roadway into Port Clinton, is less than average sized and all of about 4 feet deep at the deepest point. They also did no replenish the toilet paper in the bathroom when they cleaned the room, leaving us with about 10 squares to spare by the end of the trip. They might as well call the place “Our Guest Inn & Sweets” because it’s a pretty sweet deal for them to offer a smaller than average hotel room for the price of a suite (we paid $500 for a 2 night weekend stay). Never again! Don’t be misled!
