By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/09
had to move rooms at 1:00 in the morning due to loud music and smoking. complained to the front desk and they were unwilling to do anything about it. would never stay here again

Beautiful view but.......
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/23/09
We loved the beauty of this hotel but the elevators that lead to the rooms also lead to the top floor bar so look out...rowdy people with the smell of alcohol ride up and down all nite long. From eight o'clock on the ride can be down right scary.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/02/08
Horrible service, very rude doormen at night, must deal with chaos at night very rude front desk service, would act as if they where doing you a favor. do not waster your time or money here, try a traditional hotel rather than this kiddie run hotel if you want to feel unwelcomeed come here, if you want to feel like a human being go else where! run for your life

Rooftop
By Min, 07/16/06
This is definitely one of the most happening bar in the most happening neighborhood in Manhattan. We were lucky to arrive early and was able to get a relatively good seats near the balcony. It has great view of the Hudson river and New Jersey and the pool area was extraordinary. All these come with a very hefty price, however, with $14 cocktails and $9 beer.

Urban vacation
By Nissa, 07/11/06
Took in four days at the Gansevoort over 4th of July weekend and it was a terrific urban vacation. It's completely worth the money for the rooftop pool alone, which is one of just a few in the city. Many New Yorkers check in over the weekend so they can use it. Terrific service at the pool and overall a grand time. The food is just OK and the drinks are definitely overpriced, but it's worth it to drop some cash and lounge for a few days. Very fabulous!

All in all very disappointing...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/28/06
I have recently returned from a long weekend staying at the Hotel Gansevoort I must say, it was a very disappointing experience. Far from 'exceeding their goal of providing excellent service, comfort and value' I found the staff to be indifferent almost to the point of rudeness, simple measures of good service were lacking - the complimentry paper was never delivered, the ice bucket only filled on one of our four nights, the waiting staff at breakfast were so busy on the weekend days that you were lucky to get any tap water. The waitresses in the roof bar astonishingly rude. Each evening we were there, the roofbar and basement club were heaving with a queue stretching around the block. It is obviously a place to be seen but I found its pretentiousness was the very thing that made it an extremely uncool hotel. Very comfortable bed though.

Great vibe, location and a totally cool hotel
By BusterBuster, 01/17/06
Rooms are small, but the views are fantastic, the beds are so comfortable, free wireless and the location cannot be beat. Also the concierge attendants are unbelievably helpful. Japanese restaurant on the ground floor is pricey, too vast and not necessarily any better than a regular sushi place. I would avoid it.

Superior Service/Great Location
By KateR, 10/04/05
My husband and I stayed there for a night on Fashion Week in February 2005. It was perfect - one of our favorite hotels ever....Only problem was we had a loud room next to the elevator, but I did not feel like complaining and getting switched....If you get a room facing the rear (not the street and next to the elevator) just ask to be moved, I am pretty sure they will accomodate you. If I had bothered to complain, they probably would have moved us but I was not up to it!

catch a drink
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/15/05
$$$ drinks, but a great atmosphere to meet new people. Enjoy meeting out of towners staying in the hotel or just meeting up for a drink with friends.
