Sooo relaxing place!
By Hans and Ulrike, 7/27/09
The resort is soooo beautiful, villas are tastefully designed and comfortable and the pool is one of the best ever seen in a small Boutique Resort. There is even a deep area to practice diving in the pool, many waterfalls and a large Jacuzzi and you can swim around the restaurant. We also liked the restaurant with reasonable priced thai food and western dishes and the house band is great. Really good breakfast as well. Everyone is nice, friendly and very helpful. We tried the Spa and were surprised about the "buy one get one" promotion and the professional service. Very good, congratulations! By the way, we nearly forgot to go the beach as the resort is so relaxing... but we went there and it is a beautiful beach, not crowded. Highly recommended resort for those who do not want to stay in the center of Patong.

Don't always believe what you read!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/26/07
Well it looked great on the website but the reality was different. It is basically a collection of 2 story villas set around a below average pool with a restaurant that serves 'westernised' Thai food and the bar was sole less. When we checked in the AC in the room was not working and we had to spend the first night in the room as no alternative was offered. The next day we moved ourselves - i.e. no help from the staff with our luggage - to a room where the shower did not function properly and the TV did not work. All reported to the staff but not remedial action taken during the remainder of our stay. The resort - and I use that term loosely - is located in a remote place and I was shocked when I asked if a taxi could be called to take us out when I was told they cannot call a taxi unless I gave them the telephone number of a taxi firm. We were offered the hotel car at around baht 1,400 for what would have been a baht 250 local taxi ride! Oh, I nearly forgot to comment on the pool. It is waist deep and the towels are old and worn out. The impression I got was the place was run on a shoe string and business was not good. I honestly think it is run by a businessman not an hotelier. Never again!

Perfect Relaxing Weekend
By Jon, 1/22/06
The Mangosteen Resort is the perfect place for a weekend or longer getaway. The service from the moment you arrive is exceptional. The friendly staff takes care of all your needs. They arranged trips for us and even got us a free ride to a local restaurant instead of convincing us to take their hotel driver (which is a very reasonable rate anyways). The facilities are great. The pool is a salt-water pool so it's open 24 hours, which is great for late night swims. The room was great. The outdoor shower and Jacuzzi were the best. The large "rain" showerhead is unique as well. The view over the bay is nice as well. I watched the sunrise without leaving the room. It's a little expensive but you get more than your moneys worth from the wonderful staff. This is by far the best hotel I've stayed in yet. I would highly recommend for couples looking to escape the busy city life to recharge.

heaven on earth
By Roland, 5/20/05
Set high atop the valley, overlooking dense, greenery, mountains and ocean. Fresh mangosteen at the front desk and in your room daily. Private, outdoor shower (enormous circular shower head)and jacuzzi just outside the inner bath area. Doors and sinks custom mangosteen fruit design. Hard wood, spacious room with sitting area. Private hammock in porch area. Immaculately clean and cozy. Sunset and sunrise breathtaking views. Friendly, welcoming service. Spa services excellent! Huge circular pool with elephant water features, wooden bridges, flower and fauna everywhere. Restaurant awesome with varied menu. Overlooking the valley and ocean below.
