Excellent for a first timer to Mexico
By Callie W, 7/19/11
I loved how everywhere you looked someone was cleaning. It gave me a sense of ease. The staff catered to your every need with a smile on their face. They treated you like one of their own. I didn't like the overcrowdedness of the place (probably due to the time of year) but that proves just how popular it is. The gifts in the gift shop was a little expensive but overall I enjoyed my trip. The main buffet and Kyoto are the best restaurants.

Beautiful - can't wait to go back!
By amalitta, 2/22/09
Absolutely beautiful grounds and impeccable service from all the staff! The rooms were very spacious. The best feature of the Pacifico is that quiet location of the hotel. If you wanted to hit the nightclub, you could walk down to the Vallarta or Jalisco. Or for a quiet evening, you could just spend it at the Pacifico. I would highly recommend to anyone!

BEST TIME EVER
By xx'x, 2/13/09
i have been to p.v. the last eight years in a row i have stayed at the other two riu's and this trip was the best.the new riu palace pacifico is awesome. just the lobby is worth the price.pink marble and lots of luxury. the people were top shelf.my fiance' is a local woman and i took her and her girlfriend to the spa for total makeovers for three hours and it was the best spa around great service. we had engagment pictures taken in the lobbly they look great.the food was great also.the management was great. they can get you what ever you want. they helped me rent a hummer on short notice.hire a driver and go to lunch in the mountains. only complaint is you have to go thru the lobby to get to the pool and beach they need an exit on each end of the hotel

Ruined Honeymoon
By Regiane de Carvalho, 12/13/08
We decided for a brand new, 5 stars romantic location hotel for our honeymoon - would not you? We were impressed with the beauty of the hotel upon our arrival, and then the problems started... We reserved an ocean front suite with a Jacuzzi, and they gave us a partial ocean view junior suite. When I call pointing out the error, Sylvia, the front desk clerk apologized and changed us to an ocean front, but on a lower floor. The A/C did not work and my husband had to "play" with the switches since no one came to fix it, although we called maintenance several times. The bed spread had a stain and it was never changed, although we left it in the floor every day. On the 3rd day we arrived to the room to take a shower and there was no soap - we had a reservation in one of their restaurants and had to use the bubble bath gel - we returned 2hs later and STILL no soap, after the 3rd call and additional ½ hour, someone brought us soap – the clerk, Omar, told us they forgot. Then, we were so happy to receive chocolate covered strawberries in our room; however, the card said: "Congratulations on your anniversary" - this was our HONEYMOON!!!!!! This detail killed the kindness and the meaning of the gesture –when this was such a unique and special occasion, one that could never be relived. Further more, compounding our feelings, is the fact that Sylvia (front desk clerk) knew about it - we mentioned we were honeymooners several times when we checked-in - and made no effort to correct the information. When we went to speak with the "Customer Service" manager, Marcos, he told me that it was not their error, and that it was a Reservations personnel error – he left me and went to the back office to print the reservation and highlighted the word “Anniversary” and showed it to me. Marcos interrupted me at least 5 times, because he had to verify every other piece of information I was providing on his computer. The Front Desk Supervisor was not helpful either – and had no sympathy for our issues with the hotel services. We, at the end spoke with the Assistant Manager, Stephanie, and after a brief apology she stated it was too bad we were leaving, otherwise she would offer us an upgrade (really???). Upon the end of our conversation, I again felt it was a waste of our time – we were happy to arrive home – RIU Vallarta, NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Great Time!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/08
My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Riu Palace. Most of the staff spoke very good english and were very friendly. The food was good quality - try the red tuna at the Krystal fusion restaurant. Japanese Restaurant Kyoto was very good as well. We stayed at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya in September 2006 and they had a Rodizio Brazilian restaurant that was really good - too bad they didn't have it hear but we managed quite well without it. Rooms are in very nice - typical Riu Palace design. Bit of a musty smell but I think you get that everywhere in Mexico. Because the resort is new the entertainment staff tended to repeat things on a daily basis. We walked down to the Riu Jalisco and they had a mini beach olympics happening and it looked like they were having fun. Maybe the Palace entertainment staff could learn a few things from the Jalisco staff. The pool bar was big and drinks were made as strong as you wanted them. The beach is very nice and a good day you could body board on 3-4 foot waves. Flamingos golf cub is right behind the resort but you still probably need a cab to get there as the front entrance is on the main highway. Good resort for families and couples. Location is a bit far from PV, but there is a small town to the north - 30 minute walk on the beach. Beach vendors were not aggressive at all, they had a stall set up on the Riu grounds and would rarely bother anyone. Overall great place to stay and worth the money for the better food and rooms than a regular Riu hotel.
