Ruined Honeymoon
We decided for a brand new, 5 stars romantic location hotel for our honeymoon - would not you? We were impressed with the beauty of the hotel upon our arrival, and then the problems started... We reserved an ocean front suite with a Jacuzzi, and they gave us a partial ocean view junior suite. When I call pointing out the error, Sylvia, the front desk clerk apologized and changed us to an ocean front, but on a lower floor. The A/C did not work and my husband had to "play" with the switches since no one came to fix it, although we called maintenance several times. The bed spread had a stain and it was never changed, although we left it in the floor every day. On the 3rd day we arrived to the room to take a shower and there was no soap - we had a reservation in one of their restaurants and had to use the bubble bath gel - we returned 2hs later and STILL no soap, after the 3rd call and additional ½ hour, someone brought us soap – the clerk, Omar, told us they forgot. Then, we were so happy to receive chocolate covered strawberries in our room; however, the card said: "Congratulations on your anniversary" - this was our HONEYMOON!!!!!! This detail killed the kindness and the meaning of the gesture –when this was such a unique and special occasion, one that could never be relived. Further more, compounding our feelings, is the fact that Sylvia (front desk clerk) knew about it - we mentioned we were honeymooners several times when we checked-in - and made no effort to correct the information. When we went to speak with the "Customer Service" manager, Marcos, he told me that it was not their error, and that it was a Reservations personnel error – he left me and went to the back office to print the reservation and highlighted the word “Anniversary” and showed it to me. Marcos interrupted me at least 5 times, because he had to verify every other piece of information I was providing on his computer. The Front Desk Supervisor was not helpful either – and had no sympathy for our issues with the hotel services. We, at the end spoke with the Assistant Manager, Stephanie, and after a brief apology she stated it was too bad we were leaving, otherwise she would offer us an upgrade (really???). Upon the end of our conversation, I again felt it was a waste of our time – we were happy to arrive home – RIU Vallarta, NEVER AGAIN!!!!
