What a DEAL! Fabulous!

Couldn't have been happier with my stay here! Felt like I had a great little secret just minutes from all the action in Manhattan. We could see the subway stop (39th St. N, W, R trains) from our room, just a 2-3 minute walk around the corner. Only 2 stops from Midtown. . .we were strolling down 5th Ave. within about 10 minutes. This place is IMMACULATE! I never walk around hotel rooms in my bare feet, but I did here. The room was spacious, tasteful, and the windows opened for fresh air. The amazing part was it was actually very quiet at night and we had a view of the Manhattan skyline and the sky (not a brick wall next door). The only drawback is that there are no coffee shops or restaurants nearby. A few little shops where you can buy beer and snacks, nothing great. This is just a working class, quiet neighborhood. There are a few new buildings and another hotel nearby so I think this area is definitely on the upswing in terms of development. Felt very safe. Rode the subway home around 2:00a.m. and it was full of people of all ages. The walk back to the hotel was safe and uneventful. Breakfast was fine. . .enough to get something in your stomach before you head out the door. Staff was wonderfully attentive and SO helpful! My husband didn't even want me to post a positive review because he doesn't want people to know about the Verve Hotel (as it's now known. . .don't know what happened with the Clarion affiliation). He's afraid their rates will go up if they get too popular. I would DEFINITELY stay here again. Sure, it's a bit of a ride to Lower Manhattan, but save your money on lodging and spend it on food and fun instead!
