I've stayed at Leyte Park three times. The first was a couple years ago when I saw it's web page and booked the place for a week. The last two times were only because I was desperate, stuck in Tacloban and couldn't find another hotel with a vacant room. On the surface Leyte Park looks like a golden jewel, but in reality it's a chunk of coal that needs a quick infusion of hard cash and a management staff that cares about more than just collecting their paychecks. Let me be specific. The lobby is O.K. but once they have your money and you get to your room the glitter quickly fades. My last room had no towels so I tried to call the front desk, the phone didn't work, so I hiked up three flights of stairs to ask for towels only to be told they were aware of the oversight and the towels were on their way. Forty minutes later I still had no towels, they never did arrive, and in the morning I had to dry off with the sheet from the bed. The room had a sliding glass door out onto a small balcony. The lock on the door was broken so the door couldn't be secured. Anyone could have entered the room from the outside. The mini-frig smelled terribly. The picture on the television rolled uncontrollably and as soon as I turned out the room lights I was attacked by all the misquitoes that had hidden behind the curtains. To top things off there was a leak from the small water pipe that went to the toilet tank and their solution was to put a bowl under the leak. Of course it quickly filled up, overran the floor and as soon as I stepped into the bathroom I was walking in a puddle. On past visits I've gone days without hot water, had the same dead cock roaches lieing under my sink for the entire stay and had brown rats running around outside my door at night. I've heard that Leyte Park is actually owned by the Philippine Government, which would explain many of the problems, but how in the world does anyone expect to have a sucessful business when they can't meet even the basic needs of their customers? In my opinion Leyte Park is just a little bit better than sleeping in a parking lot!
I had booked a visit to Tacloban recently and came across Leyte Park Resort Hotel. I kindly asked if they offered Airport transfer and Internet Access. My questions were not replied to for several days. I tried again as my travel dates were soon approaching and again my request was left unanswered.
It would be advisable not to book with this Hotel because they do not offer a service that the customer can depend on. If something goes wrong (i.e. airport transfers, any hotel issues) it is very possible that your request will remain unanswered.
I can understand not an overlook/mistake from time to time, but the second email to be left unanswered is unsatisfactory, enough to post this review to advise fellow travelers that are concerned with their safety, security, and time.
I recommend investing in a Hotel that places more importance in taking the time to reply to the requests of potential guests.
