As a military member, I have stayed at other Value Place locations periodically. This location, by far, was the most disappointing experience I have ever had with the company. Although the rooms were about as expected for cheap lodging (besides the overwhelming smell of bleach which greeted us on arrival), the staff was definitely the most derisive factor. We checked in late for an 8 day long stay. We were given a rate and signed the appropriate paperwork for the rental. Our checkout date rolls around and we are told that the rate we signed was only for a weekly rental. After the manager on duty tried to charge us $70 dollars for the extra day (the entire week was only $200 by the way), she finally agreed to give us $20 off. The experience was so frustrating that we decided to just let it go and leave, but they tried to charge us for the washclothes we used during our stay because they were dirty (of course, they were $5 per wash cloth). The entire experience has turned me away from the company and I would highly recommend finding another lodging option for any extended stay in Colorado Springs.
First off, my husband was medically discharged from the army due to injuries sustained in iraq...we couldnt find a place to live after our time was up in base housing. So while we looked to buy a house, this is where we "lived" We dumped almost $3,000 dollars into this place. They were rude, nasty and acted inconvenienced about anything and everything. Our room card kept getting booted out of the system so almost everytime we tried to enter the hotel, we couldnt. then they would blame us and say we must have left it near a cell phone. when in reality it was THEIR system. i left that hotel room cleaner than i had found it and still they kept our $100 deposit. i know it was because we wrote an honest review card when we checked out. This hotel is staffed with angry, middle aged women who make a living cleaning up other peoples filth and then take it out on the patrons. steer clear. they made a tough family situation worse.
there are a few things I think worthy of mention:
PROS: It was VERY clean. Staff is very very nice and will bend over backwards for you. It's in a nice neighborhood. Close to a McDonalds and a gas station. Everything in the apartment worked very well. Check in and check out were hassle free and they accommodated me on giving me a ground floor so I could keep an eye on my bike. They had a relatively inexpensive washer and dryer for guests use along with vending machines. For those who like to go walking, it was in a nice place to go walking.
CONS: They don't tell you, up front, that there will be an additional $100 cleaning fee tacked onto your bill and although it is refundable, it shouldd be something they mention when you actually make the reserviation. Also, they don't tell you that there's an additional $10 feee for the internet service and in addition to that $10 fee, you also have to pay for a cord cause it's not wifi. The cord costs you $10 to rent, but you can go buy one at Ofice Max for $12 and keep it. And finally, in the pictures on line, it shows a coffee maker in the unit, so I assumed there would be a coffee maker in the unit. There wasn't and I had to either go to McDonalds and buy my coffee or Circle K. Just another fee they don't tell you about.
I think, overall, it was a good deal, if I would have known about all the hidden feees. Now that I know about them, I'll be more prepared and my next trip there will be a better one. And yes, I will stay there again.
