Great Place
By ,
I can't think of one single thing i did not enjoy about this place.....it was wonderful. My husband and i took our 5 year old neice and she had a blast. The place may be older but it is very clean and the staff are unbelievable. All the accomadations are like none i have had at any beach i've ever stayed at. I will go back that's for sure:) Bailey Zebulon NC

A wonderful, relaxing place.
By ,
Oceanana has been around for a while, and the good thing is that is has stayed true to its original intent: to be a familiy resort. Going here is like traveling back in time .... accomodations are simple, very much the atmosphere of the 1970's, and much of the operating budget goes into keeping the place VERY clean. Breakfast is provided in the summer months, yoghurt and fruit, bagels, just what's needed for a beach vacation. The location is among the best in the Carolinas - you're pretty much on the beach in this place and the helpful staff puts out lounge chairs and umbrellas, all included in the very reasonable price. Tip: for a few dollars more, you can upgrade to a South-East room. These are roomier and have individual AC and a nice flatscreen TV.

Disappointed
By ,
We had gone here for years, since 1989, and loved it. However, the place has really gone downhill, and we were treated very badly in 2007. We will never go back.

Wonderful Spot
By ,
This place was a great little unexpected thing. Rooms clean, huge playground area, pool boys were cleaning the pool first thing in the am, they set out beach chairs and umbrellas on the beach at the private beach entrance, pier and little eatery in the back yard, grills available for you to grill w/ lots of tables to eat at.... just great all around. You wouldn't expect a place like this to have as much staff as it does. They don't have a lot of ocean front rooms, but when you step outside your door there is ocean to one side and the sound on the other. Even down to the shower pressure was great. Older staff was great, younger staff need more customer service training, but they weren't rude. They even had light breakfast by the pool. Planning to visit again.

Enjoyed my stay!
By ,
If your on a budget, this is a good place to check out. I stayed a few years ago. The rooms were not fancy, but they were clean. I had a good room. It was ocean front on the right end corner of the building. I could go out on the porch and sit. At that time, they had air conditioners in the room. I don't know if that's changed. In the mornings we would go down by the pool for breakfast . Then if we wanted, we could get one of the gentlemen that worked there to take down an umbrella and chairs to the beach for us. My son loved the place. There was a playground, pool , arcade at the pier and we were in walking distance of a lot of places. I'm a single mother, so an opportunity to go to the beach is rare. If you don't care about staying in a fancy place and your there for the beach experience, this is a good place.

False Advertisement
By ,
First, the name resort is false advertisement. They call themselves a resort because they have a big playground and a pool. They just happen to be beside a 900 ft fishing pier that is under different management from the hotel. They do give free access to the pier. However, the daily fee for the pier is only $3. What a discount. (thanks...I would've given you the $3 back to fix your so called suite.) They charged our card before we checked in therefore we couldn't go anywhere else when we noticed that the room smelled like burned bacon, the undecorated walls look like barracks, and they only have one central unit of air conditioning for the whole building. We told the front desk we were hot and they suggested for us to open a window and come by the office to pick up a fan. That infuriated me! We paid $144 for a suite and we were told to open a window?! Not only that we had 2 small infants and a toddler to keep safe and away from the night air. I complained the next day at checkout and they did absolutley nothing for us. They implied we were lying and told us we should've checked out in the middle of the night with no money and nowhere to go with infants and toddlers. I asked to speak to the owner and the owner finally called me today 5 min after I called to speak to him. He told me I was ridiculous and he doesn't agree that I shouldn't recieve any refund. This sleezy cheezy motel would be okay if they charged maybe $60 for their suite. Then, I wouldn't expect as much.
