Description

From its name to the sculptures of Mayan gods and long-lost rulers in the lobby and in the tropical gardens and even the hand-carved mahogany villa doors, The Royal Mayan takes its inspiration from the Maya, one of the most gifted cultures in ancient America. Families will love the beach at The Royal Mayan and will want to spend most of their waking hours relaxing on the soft white sand, in the water, playing volleyball and even building sand castles with the children. There are plenty of sun loungers and thatched palapas for shade. The resort also has a large pool and a separate pool for children. Organized pool activities during the week include water aerobics, pool volleyball and snorkeling demonstrations. The daily resort activity program features yoga, aerobics, sports and crafts and there are tennis courts with lights for night play. Tennis gear can be signed out at the Sports Desk. Guests can also enjoy additional amenities at sister clubs, The Royal Caribbean and The Royal Islander next door. A shuttle bus service is available to The Royal Sands and The Royal Cancun Club Internacional de Cancun, the other two Royal Resorts in the famous Cancun hotel zone. There are two restaurants at The Royal Mayan- La Palapa for International and Mexican favorites in a thatched tropical-style palapa with a popular swim-up bar and El Conquistador, an intimate setting with live guitar music for a romantic candlelit dinner. Theme nights and cookouts are staged during the week and the in-house pizza delivery service by Bartolo is another guest favorite. The resort has a car rental and a travel agency for day trips, cruises, and water sports such as snorkeling, diving, windsurfing, fishing and all other area sightseeing needs. Sail boating can also be arranged at the Royal Marina next to Captains Cove restaurant on the shores of Nichupte Lagoon. There is even a Sailboat Regatta for guests, held every Friday. Minimum age required at check-in is 25. Come explore Cancun

Incredible Resort. Can't wait to go back
By ,
My husband and I LOVE the Royal in Cancun and Playa del Carmen. We visit often. When my husband and I want to be alone we stay at the Royal. The service is incredible, the resort is spotless, the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. We are able to relax and unwind from every day busy life back in the states. Man if you just want to be pampered and enjoy the beach and sun. If there have been negative reports about this place, then nothing will please the person complaining. ( Just stay home then) You don't have to worry about finding a good place to eat. The food is the best, and a nice variety. The entertainment is fun. Royal offers excurisions for a good deals and offers for close sites and entertainment We also stay at the Grand Caribe and Grand Porto with our children. They love it. We are booking a trip now with our friends and children to go back in in June 2011. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel. Go and have a wonderful time and relax with the wonderful service and people at the Royal.

Unbelievable Resort Experience
By ,
Apparently, the only reason this hotel doesn't have a 5 full star rating is because of the one guy who reviewed it, but hasn't even been there yet... The Royal Cancun definitely gets a 5 star rating from our group. We went last week with another couple and we were stunned at how new and luxurious the hotel was. We had never been to an all-inclusive resort before, so we were a little nervous about it, thinking it might be tourist quality food and service... we were wrong. It was one great meal after another and the service was fantastic (steak, sushi, tepan, buffet, mexican, etc...) Everyone at the resort treated us like we were VIPs. The unlimited, readily available booze and bars was unbelievable. In the Royal Jr Suite we had full bottles of our favorite alcohol and a fridge full of soft drinks, mixers, and bottled water. The views of the beach and pool area from our room on the 8th floor were amazing... I don't think any of the rooms could have a "bad" view, as all of the balconies face the beach. The pool areas offer the option of the "quiet" side or the party atmosphere of the other side, with activities and DJ music. There are cabanas available on a first come basis, so if you want one you have to get up very early to mark your territory. There was a "Carribean Night" party on the beach on Friday night. Live band, Vegas quality show, amazing food, dancing, great service, and a set up fit for a royal wedding. Amazing!!! I would skip the Chef's Dinner, unless you like little pretentious food and have two hours to kill. It was good, but boring... We did hear some stories from other people about problems with room availability and over-booking, so confirm, confirm, confirm... WE ARE ABSOLUTELY GOING BACK!!!

Perfect Honeymoon Resort!
By ,
This was the most wonderful week of my life. We came here on our honeymoon and we had requested the honeymoon package. When we got to the room there were rose petals all over the bed and champagne and dessert waiting. The late night couples massage on the beach was absolutely heavenly and a memory we won't ever forget. The resort had hundreds of little aspects that showed this was adults only - like the little cubby for food so you don't have to open your door for room service. Very impressive. The resort was lovely from every angle. The service and food was wonderful from start to finish. One tip we did learn is to ask for alcohol by Brand or you get their house which is quite weak, however they will make drinks with almost any brands all inclusive, except a few tequilas. Don Julio tequila is Sooo smooth. I highly recommned it Also - try to specialty coffee drinks they make in the buffet. They arrive at your table with liquor bottles and literally set them aflame into your coffee. I have never tasted another coffee that even comes close to the flavor! Delicous. Asiana was our favorite restaurant and we really loved the japanese steakhouse side, however at every restaurant we found something to rave about. Portions are smallish, but you can get as much as you like because of the all-inclusive. Desserts didn't have quite the flavors that Amercans except like strong chocolate, but there were wonderful ice cream flavors and the tempura fried ice cream at Asiana was yummy. We participated in tequila and martini tasting which were tons of fun. The shows were fun and varied every night from Mexican, caribbean, Cirque Du soleil style suspended from the ceiling, broadway and classical ballet. Everynight was different and amazing. I could rave about it forever. We took hundreds of photos. I wish we could have stayed longer. The week went so fast!

Our best hotel stay in our lives.
By ,
Everything about this resort is top notch. We were married there last spring and had the time of our lives. Everyone was friendly and responsive. The Hotel itself is breathtaking and the commitment to service was something you rarely receive, never in the States. The gazebo was the perfect wedding spot and the proximaty to the beach could not be any closer....one of the resteraunts was over the water. You cannot find a seck of dirt anywhere and any request is answered promptly, we even had a doctor visit in less than 15 minutes when my wife had an issue. I cannot say enough about this hotel's beauty and its staff.

Cautiously afraid of my trip
By ,
I am at the 48 hours prior to my trip and the concerns have started. I upgraded to the royal junior suite because of reading reviews about lack of king beds and it turns out that I don't have the options of prebooking my room. I need to upgrade again. The options are limited and I can't get anyone on the phone. Turns out half of the resort is smoking which scares me. Last thing you want to do is spend thousands of dollars and smell smoke in your room.

This is a fantastic resort!!
By ,
We stayed for 8 days last June and fell in LOVE with the Royal! The staff is amazing, the food [especially the sushi] was beyond delicious, the beach was wonderful and the room, OMG the room was excellent! May be a bit pricey true, but it is WELL worth the pampering you will experience! I am looking to book again now for my honeymoon : )

Royal rocks!
By ,
Absolutely wonderful place! Weather wasn't too great, but the amenities more than made up for it. Food was excellent and the service was top notch! If you get the chance, upgrade to a swim up suite. Was a once in a lifetime experience that we won't soon forget. Location is good and within walking distance of shopping. Trail system is great in the hotel zone so you can walk for hours and hours. Go here, you won't regret it!

The Royal Cancun was awesome. Clean, many restaurants to choose from. The food was delicious with Gourmet presentation. The rooms were beautiful and they all have ocean view. The staff were all very friendly and always went out of their way to see if everything was ok.
