Iberostar Varadero, Varadero

I could not stick this resort, the place is like a 2 star holiday club with dodgy entertainment belting out ALL DAY by the pool. It was unbearable. The food and food areas were atrocious, I would not have trusted anything. I have never been to a place quite as bad. By contrast, our first few nights were in the Parque Central in Havana. This was wonderful, 5 star, calm, relaxed and of high quality. The "Twin Centres" are very poorly twinned and I cannot imagine the same person liking both. A great place for vacation. The rooms were great, service was excellent. Would definitely recommend going. However - found that the meat and fish in the restaurants wasn't really all that great, but rest of buffet more than makes up for it (watch out for the traveler's diaharrea). I would give the on-site spa a 6/10 - great place to get hair braided, but no so great for massages. Also, room service didn't work for us... they didn't show up (called four times). Perhaps that was a one-time thing, with my luck I called on their shift-change. But still, amazing place to take a vacation. Definitely book it here!!! I've heard other people from other hotels complain a lot about their facilities. Try the afternoon aqua-size, it's quite fun. On site evening entertainment... and drinks are all over the place (and despite this, no one gets drunk or obnoxious) just reach out your arm and grab something, chances are you grabbed a fresh drink.
