Minamar Hotel, Giza

We took a Minamar desert tour in Feb (2008) - the Pharos Oases Tour - it was absolutely wonderful! Would recommend this outfit to anyone, as they are VERY professional, organized, courteous and responsive. They came to our Cairo hotel to pick us up for the start of our trip w/them, and dropped us off @ the end at our small hotel in Thebes, rather than Luxor. They also spoke very decent English, which is always a concern (if you can't understand what you're seeing or doing it's not much fun.) As for the hotel itself, it is very rustic on a Bahariyya lake. Throughout the trip, better or equal alternatives were offered if certain things were unavailable, or unsuitable in their expert opinion. Regarding the vehicles: one has to realize the constant beating they take in the desert. So they may not be "perfect" or brand-new, but realistically these outfits would go out of business if they replaced them all the time. We had no problems with our vans or jeeps. We only had one issue (which they may even have already corrected) the tents, sleeping bags, and blankets needed to be replaced. Take the negative posts here w/a grain of salt. If you have any concerns, just let them know in advance and they WILL take care of you! GREAT OUTFIT, GREAT EXPERIENCE!
