I was there from 9/21 - 9/29. The weather was a little on and off with rain. The staff (not the front desk/concierage, she was rude) was great and extremly attentive! The food was amazing, lots of variety. Drinks were great and they kept coming!
I was a little disappointed that there was some more liveliness, like music, dancing or entertainment of some sort. You can snorkle right off the beach but there really isn't much to see and they keep you close to the shore for safety.
I do think it is worth the money and yes i would go back again. Flying into Cozumel would have been easier than our trek from Cancun to get there.
It was very quiet, all couples, we were the only 2 single women there. Most of the guests were very nice, but it wasn't the most sophiticated crowd I have ever seen.
We were very happy with our stay. Everyone did everything they could possibly do to make our stay the best. We had the 2-bedroom suite and it was the most beautiful room that I've ever stayed in. The only negative was the reservations-required restaurant. We went twice: the first time everything was awesome, but the second time the service was absolutely horrible (the food was still very good). However, it is a restaurant actually on the Wyndham Resort grounds and shared with Aura guests. The onsite restaurants were excellent. Some friends that we met while there went fishing and came back with mahi mahi. The restaurant cooked it for us - OH MY!!! They grilled half and blackened the other half. It was wonderful!!!
We used the on-site dive facilities, which is Sand Dollar Sports. Look for Enrique and Julian. They were super!
It was my wife & I along with two 20+ year-old children, which is why we went for the suite. We will definitely go back and have already told everyone we know about it.
Let me start by saying I love Love Love the staff. They were so helpful and they really made you feel like you were in PARADISE! If you are married or honeymooning this is the spot for you! If you are single it's still not that bad ( 3 single ladies on a girls retreat) the married couples were a hoot... well at least the ones that were there when I went. The food was a little on the soso side but until the last two nights I was there... can You say " stuffed like a Turkey" the food was like a 5 star resturant and you didn't have to make reservations for the resturant . There is so much i could say about this place but not enough room! Planning a trip back in 2012! If you have any questions just email me and I would be happy to share my thoughts ! Sidenote: if you speak a little spanish it helps! The staff loves when you take time to translate into their language!
My husband and I stayed at the Aura in April of 2009. Our trip was beyond expectations, the food was wonderful, service was great, friendly, and very clean. A place for couples who want peace, quiet and relaxation. I hope to go back soon.
My boy friend and I stay at the Aura Grand Bay in Cozumel from Thur through Sun in March 2008 for spring break and we fell in love! We just coudn't stop laughing when we arrived because it was so beautiful and the people were so genuine. Day by day we felt bonded to the employees and the island. Aura was around 15 min from downtown but 100% completely worth it! The taxi fares were usually around $12. Every person at the hotel was so nice, considerate, friendly, and helpful. Every time we would leave the hotel to see the island we just wanted to go back to the hotel because it was so much fun and they cater to your ever need and want any where, any time. I would definely recommend this hotel to any one, trust me you won't go wrong its perfect! BUT there is one thing.... The food is very chef gourmet style so stock up on food downtown or bring some because the only things we ate the whole trip were shrimp pizza, chips/salsa, and breakfast was great (don't ask for enchiladas or a salad trust me lol). I couldn't complain though because the people were so nice and genuine unlike most American places. Make your reservations now :)
