beautiful view, great location, nice pool
One of the great features about Casa Dorada is it's location. It’s on Medano beach, next door to mango deck. Medano beach is the only swimmable beach in Cabo so there is alot going on at this beach during the day and early evening. There is plenty of people, bars, restaurants, boats, and wave runner rentals, etc.
It's a 5 minute walk to the marina where there are many other activities and its a 15-20 minute walk to Cabo Wabo, Squid Row and other nightlife. So you will save money in taxi rides by staying here.
If you don’t want to walk it’s only a $7. taxi ride from this resort.
And the view of Lands End and the Arch is fantastic.
The resort design is beautiful. It is still under construction so there are some areas not completed but mostly it’s nice, new, and clean. The pool is large and easy to get chairs, cabanas, and umbrellas. There is a bar inside the pool or you can order drinks and food from the waiter. The nachos were excellent. Service was sometimes slow and it can get pricey if you drink/eat alot but they have happy hour every day so that helps. At night there is a fire pit with couches surrounding it and the pool is open for late night swims. It was very quiet at the resort at night when I went in September (which is off season) there is not much going on at B Bar even though they had a pretty good band one night and the lounge itself is comfortable and very nice looking. Anyway, you’ll probably spend evenings at restaurants in town or at Cabo Wabo where everyone else goes.
I would give it 5 stars except for:
The time-share people are very persistent and can be annoying. They grab you as soon as you check in before you even get to your room to change and relax which I found rude and infuriating!
We had some problems with our door which would not lock and had to call almost everyday for someone to come fix it and the next day it wouldn’t work again. Also, there was only one elevator working for the first 3 days and some minor plumbing problems such as leaky tub and clogged sink which were surprising since it’s a new resort but there was nothing really major.
The maid knocked on our door everyday at 8:30am and had to be told to come back later so I suggest you use your do not disturb sign if you don’t want to be awakened early.
The activities desk will help you reserve things to do and they are very helpful but they gave me a hard time about using my credit card, claiming the machine was down and demanding cash instead of a card because they don’t want to pay additional fees...which they charge to you anyway.
Be sure to book your return trip on the shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel otherwise you will have to pay more than double for a taxi because the buses are not allowed to come unless they are reserved in advance.
In general I would recommend this resort. I had a great time in Cabo and it’s a very nice place to stay.
