Orchid Garden Eco-Village Hotel Belize, Belize

My wife and I booked their 28 day tryBelize programme for February 2008. We had decided to sell up in the UK and retire to Belize. We're having a cabana built in the rainforest in the Cayo district; but it's about a year behind schedule, so we needed somewhere to rent in the mean time. The Orchid Garden is run by a Taiwanese couple: lovely people with a genuine love of nature and a whole-hearted commitment to eco-sustainability. The food here is an excellent blend of the signature dishes of six different cultures - Kriol, Mayan, Mestizo,Garifuna,Mexican and Taiwanese. They make their own bread, yoghurt and hibiscus flower iced tea! My wife and I are vegetarian, and we're very well catered for. At the end of the 28 days we had become friends, and accepted their offer of a two bedroomed apartment. We've been here 4 months now, and may welkl be here for another year. We recommend the Orchid Garden Eco-Village experience to anyone who wants an interesting, action-packed, thought-provoking holiday at about half the price you'd have to pay for this quality anywhere else in Belize!
