Lavender Lodge, Kota Kinabalu

To be truthful, I did not know what to expect when I booked my vacation to Kota Kinabalu. I was looking for some sun and some beach and a relaxing time. When I booked my accommodations at Lavender Lodge through their website, I was immediately responded to by Daniel who said that he would pick me up from the airport. What service! When I arrived, he was there just as he said and the drive to the Lodge was no more than 15 minutes. The lodge is located right in the city centre - making it convenient to get to everything you need to get to. The rooms were clean and the staff were extremely friendly. It was the staff that informed me of the many other things to do in Sabah. It is an adventure seekers paradise. While my main goal was to just lie on a beach, I could not resist getting out to one of the activities in the interior and I visited Mount Kinabalu park and Poring Hot Springs - which was booked through the lodge. Overall, this was a great trip and the Lavender Lodge certainly helped. I don't think I have stayed in a hostel/lodge that was more clean and staffed with more friendly people - and the price is hard to beat. If you like absolute peace and quiet though, the city centre may not be for you - most of the lodges/hostels are in the city centre so I can't imagine any of those would be much better.
