Hotel Tolteka, Santa Ana

Heres what I have to say about Hotel Tolteka. I'm glad I didn't listen to past reviews on this hotel, because based on others reviews I wouldn't have stayed there, however this was my second stay there. I was previously there back in January of 2012 also and as far as hotel accommodations in Santa Ana, El Salvador, it is the place to stay. Based on its location, it is Santa Ana's #1 accommodations. You have to remember the country and area of the country you are in. On both stays I never had any issues that was not addressed. The rooms where kept clean, NO dirt, mold, bugs, etc. If you needed anything more hangers, pillows, housekeeping was right there immediately and if at night, the front desk addressed it right away. My air conditioning stopped and within minutes they fixed it. The hotel front desk was wonderful and very helpful. Kudos to Rony!!! He recommended great places and helped me out tremendously. The restaurant staff Daniel, Ricky, and all the others were more than friendly and accommodating. The chef is amazing if you wanted something different no problem, not to mention delicious. And as for security, I never had an issue with anything including my car outside. You were always greeted with a smile and Buenas dia, tarde, noche!!! The only thing which really isn't a negative is you are in a spanish speaking country and you do need to know the language at least a little. In closing, I would recommend this stay, I will go back Thanks to the wonderful staff at the hotel.

The hotel is almost same as a holiday inn express. The staff was very helpfull. I love the free internet wi-fi. Security watches the parking lot 24hours and parking is free of charge. The restaurant not bad and very polite staff. They have a pool but did not use it. Hot water available in the bathroom plus a tub. AC in rooms also. I like it's location. It is even a walk distance from the mall, few gas stations around and there is also a gym about 3 blocks away. Over all not bad but not a 5 star hotel either. I will still continue to stay there every time I go there.

We stayed at this hotel because the convenience of the location, we think that it should improve. The day staff are mostly very helpful and polite but we have our concerns about the night staff because of their lack of authority to deal with noisy guests. And also to deal with different problems, for example if the air conditioning doesn't work you're not prepared for the guard, with rifle, to come in to your room to see what was the problem. And if there is a party in the garden at 2am and you complain about it they will ask you if you would like them to send guard, with weapon, to quieten them down. If you ask for 2 additional pillows because you think that your children might fall out of bed during the night they will tell you that the person in charge of the pillows comes in the morning. Some people can find all of this very annoying! Anyway, I was keen on the lovely swimming pool that they show in the picture. Let me tell you that we stayed for 1 very hot week and we didn't use it once because they didn't change the water, and is pretty evident. I would recommend that you eat out. We ate delicious, fresh food that was good value for money locally. The hotel restaurant could improve, a glass of watered down milk and stale cereal cost $4, for that you could have a feast of pupusas down the road. The rooms smelt of bit of old pee but apart from that we had a lovely holiday and we would stay again if we had no choice. Last word of advice, check final bill carefully to ensure you have been charged for the correct amount of nights and do so with plenty of time!
