Tropics View Hotel, Hatfield

An okay place to stay if you're passing through, but would not recommend this as a base for visiting sights in the area. The location is outside of town and contrary to advertisements & website the hotel provides no transportation. Reception staff was unwelcoming, and unhelpful even with contacting any of the hundreds of local, privately operated taxi drivers for a ride into Mandeville. Route taxis are in abundance in town, and are the main transportation all over the parish, but staff claimed to be allowed only to phone one particular driver and twice instructed two senior citizens and two other adults to "wait out on the road." Cars barreling down this stretch of the highway are almost always full-up, and in any case totally unlikely to have room for four. We got two rides for a fair price from a nice guy working construction nearby. Food is hit-or-miss. Security and grounds staff were friendly, and the barkeeper too; not so with the front desk. Would have ranked service lower, but don't want to lump the rest of staff in with the particularly inhospitable group at the front of house.

I had my wedding reception at Tropics View and it was a disater.Do not be fooled with the pictures(the place overall looks nice) but their service is very un-professional.I would never recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have a function .If your looking somewhere to sleep thats fine but not to have an a function.

I enjoy my stay at the hotel it was very quiet and peacful. I spend two nights and i enjoy it very much. There is nothing for me to say i dislike, I wish and hope to return there again. The front desk girls was very nice also the resturant guy.my next trip to JA i will be back and for a longer stay...

We have visited several areas in Jamaica including Negril, Oches,Montego Bay & more but Mandeville's Tropics View was our FAVORITE. The climate was cooler when we visited in the summer which was a plus. You will find that you won't need air conditioning as the ceiling fans and the cool mountain breezes handle the heat. The hotel itself was awesome...our 2 bedroom, 2 bath hotel room felt like home away from home. I love the wonderful restaurant and bar on the premises. The pool was great. We even got to watch a wedding that they catered to on the beautiful lawn. We stayed 5 nights and would have stayed more if we had found this place earlier. The property is really secure..with gated rooms and gated entry. A big Up to Abraham, the caretaker, who takes great pride in his work. Marsha and her crew are great cleaners and always has a friendly smile. You can catch a taxi easily to get to town and there is a small shop right outside the gate that is pretty well stocked for most of your needs. My family and I can't wait to go back and this time we will be spending our entire 2 weeks at the Tropics. I can't recommend this place enough. I just wish their website worked better. Ask for the rates/discounts for extended stays.

This place was introduce to me by my mother.....i came here in April of this year and was extremely excited to be back again.....customer sevice is excellent, who checks into a hotel at 2:30am and have staff wating up for your arrival to greet you....Ms Rose, Tracy, Tony, Williams, Dain, Sashi some names i cant remember, you guys are the best....Thanks for making our trips to Jamaica comfortable, i have spoken so much about Tropic View i now have family members wanting to come there on their vacations.....keep up the good work guys, you are definitely FIVE STARS in my book......

I stayed at Tropics for i week me and my 1 year old daughter...I cannot complain, the staff was just off the chain with their kindness, friendliness in everyway possible. They attended to me and my daughters need so much and made us felt so welcome. This was my second time there, I went back only because I was impress the first time. it is so clean and relaxing. I know it will not be my last, so I just want you guys to keep doing what you are doing and don't let it run down. Thank God for this owner, you doing really good...and it is a classy hotel.

My sister and I stayed at the Tropics View Hotel September 19 - 26 and during our visit to Jamaica and all I can say is "WOW". Absolutely fabulous. Great place to stay and I've stayed at many five star hotels throughout North America and Europe. This hidden gem is located in the cool hills of Mandeville and I want to let the secret out for all travelers to know and experience what quality and class is all about. The staff was great and I would like to thank them all for their hospitality and exceptional service during my stay. The grounds is immaculately well kept beautiful landscaping and extremely clean pool. It was rainy season so we didn't spend a lot of time out doors but the size of our suite and all the modern conveniences made it pleasurable to stay indoors. All i can say is if you want to stay somewhere that you'll be completely comfortable safe and secure book with confidence at the Tropics View Hotel.
