I recently stayed at the Billings Wingate and having stayed at many before I new that it would be clean and very nice. One thing I really noticed about this property was the linens were very soft and smelled awesome. Also the water park at the motel was great. I would recommend this motel to anyone
Front desk staff were all very pleasant. All the staff we ran into during our 3 day, 2 night stay were especially nice. I had asked a couple weeks ahead of time for a ground floor room [my mother is elderly and prefers that] but we were on the third floor. It was not a huge problem.
The room was very clean, beds were just comfortable, not as good as I would have expected based on my previous Wyndham stays, and the pillows were way too firm for me. We really appreciated the marble counter area with the coffee pot, etc., and sofa.
They have one of the best in-house breakfasts I've seen. There was fresh fruit, yogurt, many kinds of cereal, muffins, toastables like bagels, bread, english muffins, hash browns, sausage, omelet, make-your own waffles, etc., and my favorite, superb teas and coffees in real mugs!
We were disappointed to discover at 10:00 p.m. when we returned the first night after check-in that we were in a room where the huge spotlights located on the roof above the hotel's entry shown straight into our window right at the head of the beds!! We did not realize it until we were all ready for bed, because we had closed the curtains when we checked in earlier, didn't notice until the we turned off the lights and did not ask to change rooms. The curtains did cut out most of the light...until you turned on the heat or air conditioner...then they blew up and let the light shine right onto the beds. We weighted down the bottom of the curtains with our jackets and survived. Make sure you ask to NOT be in a room where the hotel floodlights shine in the windows!
The attached water park is only average. There were lots of lifeguards who are extremely attentive, which should be a plus for those with youngsters. As for an adult with a 13 year old, two slides, a wave pool that is mediocre and only runs every 15 minutes or so, and a hot tub did not make the $5 discount given for staying at the hotel really worth it. He was disappointed after having looked forward to the stay for days! There is quite a bit more for the toddler/pre-teen set to play with in this park. I will add that it is definitely highly treated with chemicals...I had to launder our suits two times to get the smell of the treated water out of the fabric and I rinsed them at the hotel right after we used them! There is a hot tub available for hotel guests only, and a tiny workout room. The hotel website advertises the water park as an attraction, but if we had been able to see exactly what we were getting for the money, we would have probably stayed much closer to town. The only things near this hotel are a convenience store and a sporting goods store, one restaurant with higher than average prices and then it is 5 miles to the real business district. Would we stay again? Maybe. Very friendly staff, very clean rooms and a breakfast that probably saved us at least $25 might make up for the flood lights and rock-like pillows, and we would NOT visit the Big Horn Water Park again.
The room was beautiful, and the beds...WOW! I haven't slept this well since I came home and we have a brand new TemperPedic bed! We stayed in the business suite, and let me tell you, the bathroom was insane. It was actually a full bath-room with a shower and jacuzzi tub in it. I am going to stay here EVERY time I go to Billings.
