Welcome to a very pleasant, albeit slow autumn season in Zagreb! Besides offering very nice budget prices in our Hostel, we are also at your disposal with tips, hints and suggestions, whatever your interests may be. We also offer the atmosphere and warmth of a home away from home and hope you will have a pleasant time here at Mali Mrak. Relaxed, comfortable simplicity, common sense and genuine hospitality is what really defines us, in the words of most of our guests, and so far, in the fifth year of running the hostel, we've had more than 15,000 travelers passing by- quite a remarkable experience for us, since we are a small place, with 24 beds, and this is just the way we prefer it - makes it much easier to remember people, names, and moments in this easy going place of ours. We don't have expensive plasma screens or high-end computers, but we've got all a person needs while traveling, including free laundry service and other goodies travelers learn to appreciate while on the road. Also, we're a creative bunch of people -we do some painting and artwork in general- the whole place has been custom painted over the years, with many contributing friends or guests, so you're welcome to play the piano here (if you dare :D) or paint something if you feel like it. We have to charge it in any case, and since many wonder what that is, here goes: it's not something any hostel makes up, it's just that - a city tax that goes to the state of Croatia, a way to make money. We must charge it, and keep it separately because of account keeping, so we rather choose not to incorporate it into the bed price (that means: raising that same price for said amount and proclaim 'no additional tax') and charge it separately.
