luxury get away near Disney
By ,
We loved the Lighthouse Key Resort! From the friendly courteous staff, to the excellent Beacon Deli on the premises. Our entire stay was wonderful. The place was clean, bright , cheery and we had a wonderful time relaxing after visiting the parks. It is a good value for the money if you want something in an "upscale" resort vacation. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. It's a quiet area on Rt. 192, yet only a few minutes from Disney. We had great views from our balcony and enjoyed listening to the sounds of nature from the lake as well as a long distance view of Disney fireworks. all-in-all, a great place to stay and we would highly recommend it.

Horrible!
By ,
This is an apartment type facility located few miles from Disney on 192 W. While the inside decor is good and modern, the service and maintenance is horrible. It's called a resort but it has nothing that constitutes a resort except a swimming pool and a spa. The first day we got there, the bathroom shower was broken. We tried to call the service but the phone was not working (static, no voice). So I went to the office and had someone come up to the apartment to fix the bathroom and replace the burned out bulbs in the other bathroom. Soon we realized that the toaster is not working, did I mention the phone not working! According to the receptionist, an outside company has to come and fix the phone, which they never did, thanks god for the cell phones. The toaster was never fixed. Further, this is a facility where guests are encouraged to purchase groceries and prepare their own food, each apartment has a kitchen with oven, refrigerator, pots, and other appliances. So we went to the local Wallmart and spent $250.00 on groceries and filled the refrigerator. Every time I asked my wife for cold water, she kept giving me not so cold bottle of water and I kept complaining. Soon we found out that the refrigerator is not working. We called again and complained but no one came so a day later when we came back from Universal Studios, all the food had gone bad and the apartment was smelling like a rat's hole. HERE COMES THE BEST ONE! Once a person takes a shower using hot water, the hot water is gone for about 30 minutes so the second person has to wait for that long to take a shower. So if you have 4 people in the apartment, it will take 2 plus hours just to take showers and get ready for the parks, good luck doing two parks per day! By the way, there was no problem with the boiler or the pipes, according to the receptionist, "that's how it works wait for 30 minutes and the hot water will be back". If you have been to Orlando with children, you know that the nitty gritty makes or breaks the vacation. Before you know it, everyone is yelling at each other and stress takes over. TO AVOID IT ALL, FIND A PLACE WITH GOOD SERVICE/ MAINTENANCE, SERVICE IS EVERYTHING WHEN IT COMES TO ORLANDO. THANKS. N. KAHN. EAST MEADOW, NY. 02/18/2010.

ACCOMMODATIONS ARE LOVELY, HOWEVER
By ,
We loved the accommodations, however there are a list of things they need to improve on. There are no dish towels, dish soap, pot holders or dish washing detergent. I used hand towels in the kitchen. I twisted my ankle at the pool on our first day, my son went to ask for a first aid kit or ice pack the young lady was confused at his request and told him they had no first aid kit....really?? The view from our room you could see the fireworks @ Disney but the bugs were so bad that we couldn't enjoy the outdoor space at all....it's Orlando why didn't they screen the porch in. Also, there were dead bugs all over the walls and ceiling on the porch and from the looks of them they've been there for years, a little power washing would be nice. Our third day someone was mowing the lawn the grass blew up onto our patio (we were on the first floor) no one cleaned it, a huge pile of grass sat there our whole stay. The cabinets in the kitchen were dirty, we only had 2 glasses in the unit. If they aren't going to stock the kitchen then they shouldn't advertise that. My daughter had a bag on the floor when she went to get it it was filled with ants..our last day we woke up with one extra in our bed a huge bug of some sort. Our third day I called @ 9 a.m. to ask for toilet paper we never got it until I called back @ 2 p.m. to ask why. Since we were staying 6 days we should of had a mid stay tidy up, mid stay for the was the day before we were leaving. The shower in the master bedroom had about an inch of mold growing on the bottom and the floor of the shower was cracked. We stayed in unit 2106 I wouldn't recommend it.

Read reviews before booking!

Upon checking in, we were told our room was not ready and after trying a couple of times to get a hold of housekeeping, the clerk said "It is tough because they don't speak English"...He also tried to get the manager of housekeeping and they didn't even answer the call. While out shopping, we got the call the unit was ready and upon arriving, we discovered a plate of maple syrup under sink on the bottom of cabinet. There wasn't any dish detergent, dishwashing soap (were told there would be), no potholders or dishtowels and therefore had to use bathroom towels, and also, the tile floors were sticky. We called the front desk to complain about the syrup, floors and pillows, and were told by the clerk that she gave out the last pillow the day before and someone would come up to clean the floor...which he did and trust me, he spoke very good English. So there were 4 adults using 3 pillows - and one of the guys gave his wife his pillow and used the big round bolster pillow and suffered a stiff neck the next day! Went to make breakfast the next morning and there was a tiny frying pan for cooking and since there weren't any potholders, we had to use bathroom towels. So after a sleepless night, and eating in shifts, we stopped at the front desk before heading out and asked to speak to a manager. The clerk said the manager wasn't in and asked if she could help. We said no because we didn't get anywhere with the front desk and wanted the manager. She said he would be in the next day and gave us his card. We didn't stay at the resort that night and called the front desk upon arriving back at the resort and called the front desk asking to speak to the manager as we wanted to complain. When the manager came on the phone, we asked him to come to the unit and gave him a list of what was wrong. He apologized and said that the "no more pillows was no excuse" as the front desk clerks could have left the desk and gotten more pillows. To try to make amends for our atrocious first night, the manager threw in an extra cleaning and changing of sheets. We went out for the day and came back to 6 pillows and a cleaning which included a large frying pan and also dishwasher soap. We also had to call down a few days later after housekeeping had cleaned the unit that day for more toilet paper as both bathrooms were almost out and there weren't any other rolls left. Also, the website said this was a "Mike Ditka Resort" and we found out from the manager that only 4 units in the whole resort were managed by his company. And that the new management company took the resort over in August of 2008...so this resort is using false advertising to gain customers. My husband and I have owned in two timeshares for the past ten years and have never had as bad experience as this one...Otherwise the unit is nice but we will definitely not be back and nor will we recommend this resort to anyone.

The Best Deal in Orlandro
By ,
Been there twice, Amazing rooms, great value, the club house is qreat, They searved us Thanksgiving dinner, the food was awsome. watched 5 movies in the 50 seats theather. Stay at many high end resorts. The only one better than this place is a place in by Standford University for $460.00 per night with a "Fireplace". I guess we don'y need a fireplace in Florida!

Loved it!
By ,
I think this resort was amazing. I was a little worried about booking this property just because it seemed to good to be true with the price based on what the pics looked like. I also want to say I disagree with the poor service review from a previous gst. For one every day someone came and took our trash and asked if we wanted towels which surprised me because most of these condo hotels and time shares either dont give yous ervice or charge you a ton of money for it. Also our jacuzzi tub didnt work, and there was someone there within 15 minutes and the gentlemen was very polite and helpful. So after all we loved and it and have already told all of our friends and family about it. We WILL be back.

Awesome Room!
By ,
The rooms were awesome - I did not want to go home. Beautifully decorated - loved it! Nice pool and hot tub, but we went in the Winter and they had advertised heated pool. NO way - it was so cold, my husband would not go in. That was a bummer. When I complained they claimed the pool was heated and didn't do anything else. Oh well, the room made up for it.

Poor service.
By ,
My family booked two nights here, based on reviews on the web. What a disappointment. We were checked into an occupied suite and had to go back to the front desk to get another room. The suite has a full kitchen however, there were no dish towels, dish soap or dishwashing powder. When I asked the front desk, they got annoyed with me and told me that the suite was self catered. The second day beds were not made or rooms vacuumed. Shampoo, towels, coat hangers and laundry bags were all missing making our vacation at this resort a displeasure. In addition when we voiced our inconveinance to the concierge, she did nothing. She promised us a welcome package, which never materialised. I have to admit the suite was nice, but the service here is atrocious.
