We loved the accommodations and the friendly and courteous management. The kids loved the fun game cottage with pool table. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, and the old style florida cottage. My husband loved the public boat ramp just a short walk nearby, as he loves to fish. The entire family had a great time. The cottage was clean and well maintained. We drove to the beautiful beaches, just a few miles away for swimming. We plan to return again this winter.

We recently made reservations at the Flamingo Cottages in Vero Beach, Florida. We found them online and from the photographs, liked the Old Florida look of the metal-roofed bungalows. Interior shots showed fairly austere furnishings, but still, Old Florida Cozy by our expectations. The proprietors assured us it was only "steps" away from the beach. When we arrived late on Friday, July 23, what we found was much more 'Old' than Old Florida. Flamingo Cottages are wedged in between US 1 and an access road that serves a 1960's mobile home park on the East side of the property. Without being totally off put by the location, we stepped up to the porch of our #14 Cottage (There are only four or five cottages that we could see--duplexes in three buildings) and inside the screened enclosure. That's where things went awry. The front door was rusted all around the perimeter. Mold was growing through the paint on the ceiling and holes in the flooring were extremely uninviting. We did not enter the restroom. Appliances -- vintage 1970's gold -- were operational, but it would have been difficult to fry an egg in a skillet due to the slant in the floor. The beds were creaky and ancient, but not old enough to be charming--just crummy.
The beach turned out to be the Indian River and it was about 1/2 mile away, walking north along the service road and around the trailer park.
Refund? Yeah, sure. Don't take a chance on this one--and don't pay cash, only our credit card saved us from the rip off.
I was there for two nights and was the worst place I ever stayed. Stove was broken, Fridge did not work properly, not all lights worked. No dvd, old furnitures. And the worst the place was dirty and smell really bad. Long time that place has not been cleaned. Also, bring your own utensils, and pans because they have none. If you want to save money go to extended stay hotel, or another cheap like motel 6 I think they are much cleaner
The flamingo is very very rustic. If you are anal and a clean freak dont even bother. Also as I learned that on the coldest night of the year this year they dont have heat. I had to go to the local Wal Mart and buy space heaters to which I was not reimbursed for. If you are going to use it for sleep only and are not hanging out go for it.
