As is usual with our road trips, we got a late start, what with prepping and packing up the doggies and shuttling them to Camp Bow Wow. But darn it, by 10 am we were off! Took the typical non-descript drive up I 65 to I 90 and then...CONSTRUCTION. I used to think Indiana was the home of eternal, pointless construction, but now, after a decade's worth of trips to Chicago, it is clear to me that Illinois is the land of the uncompleted road project. Arrived in Milwaukee that morning with my daughter, rented a car, loaded her in her carseat and headed Greenleaf (about 1 1/2 hours). As long as I was on the main highway I was fine. I found a Walmart I wanted to stop at but I kept going figured I would come back to it. As soon as I detoured off into the countryside, I got lost. I saw the pretty green plains and many dairy farms, I even found another Walmart that I stopped and shopped at before I gave up on finding the house I set out to look for. Our day started by getting Madelyn ready to go home. We set out at 10am after packing the truck with everything we could. We headed up to Green Bay to pick up Madelyn's brothers, Chase & Paul David, at my sister, Jessica's house. From Green Bay, we headed up to Oconto to meet my other sister, Sheila to give her children back to her. Then finally, our vacation started.
