First night was in Saranac Lake, stayed at the Saranac Hotel. We got into town at about 4pm after a nice drive through the Adirondak State Park. Kate got the opportunity to chat with the local law enforcement who ended up being real nice. :-) The room itself was a little cramped but comfortable, much like an attic bedroom at your grandma's. A quilt adorned the queen bed, and it had one of those air conditioners that like like dehumidifiers and sat in the room with a tube leading to the window. Lauren had picked up a ton of activity brochures for our trip. We decided to go food-related road tripping, so Vermont seemed to be a more obvious choice. We stopped for muffins and/or bagels at the Dirt Cowboy Cafe, a nice little place in Hanover that seems to be popular with students...
