Our first day on the road took us north on highway 395 along the eastern Sierra Mountains. That roadway, I think, is one of California's most beautiful highways. The Sierra Nevada Mountain Range rises straight up alongside the west side of the road with many of the highest peaks in the range visible along the way. Coincidentally, Dad and uncle Frank had just arrived at about the same time, so we all checked in together. At the lobby of Silver Legacy Hotel was this super big chair which can fit 50 HanHans, I think. Arriving at our hotel room, Han was happy to see the 2 balls outside of our window. We're hoping to take off Saturday morning 6/30. We'll be making good time getting to Vegas but all the while scouting out things to do and see on the return trip. Mt St Helens is certainly one such stop. I realized that I shouldn't be waving our hotel confirmation numbers around online (they're in the notes for each hotel in the Trip Plan) until after we've made use of them. So I've made the plan private except for family and after they've signed in with their Y! IDs. Spread the word if anyone is asking. This is so much different than preparing for our camping trips. There's so little to pack....
